Question about shipnames in script files

i need to change the shipclasses  in the scriptfiles of op as well as some of the text within the missions.
id like to know how to do that and if it is very difficult. ???

Changing mission text is very simple. What do you mean exactly by changing ship classes? Changing the class names themselves or just using different ships?

with changing the ship class i mean changing for excample fcai to fca.
its for a mod im making. some races will be replaced by tholians and the terran empire.
all empires and all known ships will be canon or at least closer to it that in sfc.
once hopefully finished it will be complete tmp mod.
