Triton Class WIP

This is an old design.  I used to make my own toys as a kid, and this was one of the first spaceships I made from scratch.  She's got a lot of basic geometry because I originally made the toy from cardboard.  Just like way back when, this ship's teaching me how to make better models, only now on my PC.

I've updated the design a time or two (if I went with the original look she'd look a bit too bland), and this is what I've got so far.  I'd say the model's about 75% finished, as I want to add a couple weapons turrets that I have yet to make.

I'd never named her, but I think I'm gonna name the ship class Triton.

Dude... if you wanna name it the Triton, name it the Triton. 95% of the FASA Fed designs sucked anyway. ;D

There's been a development here.

For some reason, 3DS will not apply textures...I've tried everything I could find, read about a dozen tutorials, but the damn thing
will...not...cooperate.  I can't even assign placeholders.  The model is finished, all it needs is texturing, but until I can pinpoint just what the problem is, it's stuck on the ground.

Try this.. export it as a .3ds, close down Max, restart it and then reimport it.  Should work then.  If that doesn't, send me the .3ds file and a list of texture names and I should be able to assign some spots for textures and then will send you back the file when complete..

It looks cool and would make for a good Free Trader, Police Cutter or Corvette, maybe even a Pirate.

It is kind of part Klingon, part Federation in style, so could be passed of as either race.

The Feds could do with a more modern Police Cutter, in TMP, to replace the aging century old Leviathan Class. This would look cool as a TMP or TNG Police Cutter!! :)
