Who's up for a spot of SFC3 modding?

As some of you might know a couple of years back i started to put together a little stock replacement mod for SFC3. Only rules for the construction of the mod were simple OutaLance related work only, Replace all that could be replaced without affecting the core files. I admit it kinda strayed away from the rules. But as they say "Rules are meant to be broken or at least bent"
So far it has:

. Red_Greens Star swapping mod (all 6 star variants with updated textures
. BC Ported models wherever possible (all others either high quality retextures or the closest i could find or make at the time)
. Total enviroment overhaul (New backgrounds, Planets, Asteroids. Although nebula's are still the same )
. Retexture of all sprites (weapons and other effects)
. 1 new single player skirmish script (only for one on one it adds a total of 12 new arenas)
. Lighting altered (can be done with the SFC3.ini file)
. Squadrons of fighters/shuttles (3 shuttles per launch)
. Pre-patched (534_C)
. Multi plain combat (changed the position of the models in relation to the central gaming plain, helps give the game a bit more of a 3D combat feel)

And thats all i can remember right now.

So what do I need from you guys....
Well in my haste to get everything in i forgot to do the most basic things, Scaling, Copying the original Hard Points to the new models, Break models and doing all those stupid little TI, VL and BS pics that the game enjoys so much. Maybe even a replacement opening movie. Getting all the new files placed into an installer ready for release.

The mod merely goes under the name of OutaLance Beta or (OLB) for now untill a better name is found.

Two important things when porting models for SFC3:

1)Break models. But I think you already know that.:-)

2)If there are textures that don't have illumination maps, I suggest assign black dummy textures for them. Otherwise the damage illumination maps will not work.

For the BS/TI/VL pics, you don't need to use the templates from the modinfo folder. Just create pics with same size and use black background. This will resuce a lot of time for you. (I discovered it too late, damn!)

Oh i know all this dude, but cheers, All the textures and lightmaps are done for every model What I need are break models, getting the damage textures attached, HP's and rescaling (HP's are just a case of taking the the stock 534_C HP's and simply merging and aligning them to match the new meshes. Adding the extra glow things that SFC3 uses getting all the VL, TI and BC pics made.... for every stock model... what ever else I've thrown in since i started this project. What you have to remember is I've being working on this mod single handedly for almost 2 years. Real life is always forcing its way back into my little dream world, and this mod will never see the light of day as i dont have the time let alone the energy. Right now (zipped/Rared) it stands at around 2.29 gigs (but its the total game as ive edited that many files minus the .exe, default loadout and default core files nor have i played with the hull items. Everything else has had a total facelift.

If i could honestly do what I want with this mod It would be more akin to G@W kitbashed with DomWars... Ive got enough models and the era selection would be great. But getting permission to edit both those mods to combine them is impossible. No one will agree to is. Nanner isnt around and Buz hardly shows up so we can't even ask him to ask for us. When pelican dissapeared he left the rights to the stuff with X of IKS/S31 and well lets just say, she doesn't wish to revamp the mod for now as she has other games to conqueror. So either way this is the best i can do.

I can only do so much and I'm nearing my limit.

I wish you luck. I work alone on my mod as well, since 2004. (My first announcement is still on this board. Cool)

I know how difficult it is to maintain a massive mod, so I keep trying to make my mod as small as possible. Hope you find your way to make it.  Smiley

I'm interested in the environment overhaul and skirmish script you mentioned. But I really don't want to touch any ships for a while( or possibly forever, it's really boring).  Sad

We can team together, and create different mods. I will post how I made my damage textures in this board, perhaps it would help. Smiley

to be honest.. it kinda defeats the point of all the work I've put into my mod already... I know the ship side of things is a pain in the backside.. But its all i have left to do.. well apart from an installer and movie. But i will gladly share my environments tweaks with you. Do you use MSN or AIM messengers?

As for damage maps... I can make those till the cows come home its just a case of getting them all attached to the models.. which isn't a particularly hard task just very boring. But anything you can sort out for me would be great

If you want to use NSIS for making installer, I can help that too. http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Main_Page  Smiley But I guess it's too early to talk about installer for now.
