Oh everyone just calm, down, we're not women and don't need to get n touch with our feelings or any of that crap.   People overreact or read things the wrong way, especially on internet message boards (I behave the same way in real live, explains how I'm not married).

NO I've never ran a server or a bbs (bigger than 10 members).

Again, sorry for being rude as I only expected what was promised (and have been waiting months like everyone else),

You needn't worry about me- you won't be bothered with me anymore.

You have to understand that the Server (or System) Operator cannot be there constantly and things WILL go wrong.  They don't have a staff there at all times to handle issues.  The Operator does it all on the time he can spare from his own life.  For a server Operator that can mean that for YOU and I to play means he can't as he is handling those "issues" that come up and responding to complaints.  It also means that when the Operator gets a chance to check things they can have a day or more of problems and complaints and escalating tempers to deal with all at the same time and with only a limited time to do it.  That gets frustrating and difficult and not everyone handles the pressure well.

Consider.  If YOU were disappointed merely because you expected to be able to play at a given time, how much MORE was Diehard disappointed to find his hard work not operating and the complaints piling up?

Even when things go wrong the Server Operators deserve thanks for their efforts and praise for even trying.  Not complaints.  Point out flaws and issues to them yes, but be nice and don't forget the thank yous for the efforts they make.

im with you DH...with the SFC4 announcement i would have thought there'd be a better turnout...but what can you do...it is what it is...

those of us that play and are reallying looking forward to this "serious" server totally appreciate the effort...the disappointing and harsh remarks are evidence of this...may i suggest next time we have a longer "test run"...we might have averted this situation...

i really favor having 2 people...like DH and Pesty...or Pesty and Braxton...SFHQ and DH...for admins on any given server...that way when situations like yesterday arise they can hopefully...between the 2...resolve the situation in a timely manner...

there were a few people who showed up yesterday with problems other than having no server to play on...who said they would try again tomorrow...one of them i have not seen in a long time...so no server would have been bad IMO...glad this was resolved...

It didn't corrupt my game. No issues here. How can it be his installer if it didn't screw up the masses?

Uninstall of the AOTK4 Beta installer will remove your Shiplist, frtlist and Model.siz files and the ED scripts and the NW scripts.. You will probably have to manually restore them..

I am about to put up a complete installer that will install and uninstall correctly that will keep your game in original condition after uninstall.

if ur like me and have the game files not on C drive...with DHs installers you just need to copy from C to whatever drive you have the game on...been this way for awhile...mentioned this a few times...

Same here.  I have a partition just for games but the installer defaulted to the C:. Even after I used the option to redirect it still put them on C: so I manually moved them.

The new installer detects install based on system registry as well as restores game to original (OP + v4.0) upon uninstall.

I'm just glad it's up, and I will be on this week.  (I had family plans for this weekend, so I couldn't be on at the scheduled launch).

Building a server is a *lot* of work even before you launch it, so I'm grateful to DH for putting this one together even if he has no more to do with it.  Now we have a server built and ready to run.

And a very special thanks to Pesty for taking over.  Good save, my friend.

comment I wouldn't be bothered so much, but everyone who knows DH knows he's got a potty mouth- so I KNOW exactly what he wrote before he edited it, I remember a tiff we had about 18 months ago on TS and I vowed THEN never to speak or write to him again. I must have forgot about my promise to myself. So that behind us I've been thinking about it for the last 24 hours and have decided I want nothing more to do with his BS so I won't be participating on this server and I've notified LK to NOT expect me to help. I've removed all OP software from my PC as well as all the mods needed for the server.  It's all I can do to NOT request my account termination from Dyna as my hope is to forget this incident over time but that may take a few months.

In the mean time hope it goes well for you all, and maybe someday we'll ALL forget about this.
