should be this
[WONDirectoryServer/Addresses] 0="client.sfc.dynaverse.net:15101" 1="client.dynaverse.net:15101" 2="sfc2.directory.stasis.ca:15101"
You need the quotes if you don't have them.

No, only the Directory Server Update does this, or the OP Enhancement Pack.

OK.. Lets go over the check list one more time
Uninstall the game and delete the game folder
TURN OFF ANTI-VIRUS
Install the game, say no to Gmaespy Arcade and DirectX
Patch game using patch version 2.5.0.0 - 2.5.5.2 full patch
Install the Directory server patch
Install OP + v4.0
Install Campaign installer Allow it to install all the way.. when the installer window closes, a black window pops up.. ALLOW IT TO RUN ALL THE WAY THROUGH... IT WILL CLOSE BY ITSELF.. DO NOT CLOSE IT
Launch game from the StarfleetOP.exe game file.. Do NOT USE THE SHORTCUT IN THE START MENU.. it points to the sfcop.exe which is broken.. Make sure to always use the StarfleetOP.exe file to launch game
Use EZ-INI to set screen resolution.
Run your machine in either DMZ or bypass the router all together.
Make sure UPnP and Windows Firewall are disabled (Start button>Run> type in 'services.msc' without the ' marks.. Right click on Universal Plug and Play and select Disable.. do the same for Windows Firewall.
Restart machine, and then try logging in.
If you have Norton or McAfee, Uninstall them and get a real AV such as AVG Free 8.0.. It is still recommended to turn off AV when playing online to prevent packet drops..
Make sure your DirectX is up to date.. use the June 6,2008 redistributable installer from Microsoft to ensure DirectX is completely up to date.
Make sure your video card driver is completely up to date from the card chipset manufacturer (Radeon go to ATI, Geforece go to NVidia)
If you need URL's they are posted in the Rules Thread for AOTK 4

Yes it can if it has NAT of any kind. You will need to make sure that the ports are forwarded on it if it does to your Static LAN IP. Also, IF you have your router in the equation be sure the Modem is in bridge mode(assuming it allows you to switch between route and bridge mode) so it isn't having to go through 2 NATs basically

If the cable modem has a router built in it could.. it could also be your ISP
I would contact your ISP and find out if they are blocking any ports on their end that SFC needs to connect.

Control Panel...Administrative tools...Services... STOP: Windows Firewall/Internet Connections Sharing (ICS) STOP: Universal Plug and Play Device Host. ...play.
Microsoft has changed the way these work in recent months, they both must be stopped manually in the services applet.
In your case it could be that your router (if it has UPnP functionality) is screwing up the port forwarding, as UPnP does not comprehend port ranges, and most UPnP interfaces can only handle two single port entries, and will conflict with you manual NAT setup. You could try disabling it on your router.
Ah.. takes me back "Universal Plug and PRAY"
I hated plug and play when it first came out, I like jumpers on cards to set resource use, I know exactly how it will work. Plug and pray is still a roll of the dice everytime. Then "universal" plug and pray? Lord help us and save us...

I dunno if this will help, but after fighting my motorola DSL modem (netopia 2210) for a couple weeks and my ISP claiming it didn't have a hardware firewall (which it did), and finding bridged mode wouldn't cure the problem I reset the modem back to it's default settings. My problem was the router (linksys befsr41) which was set to forward the correct ports but the address was wrong as windows was set to 'automatically detect' the assigned address from the router. Once I set the computer network settings to what I wanted (a static IP) , and changed the router port forwarding address to match my PC's address my problem vanished (for the 4 online game I regularly play). I did this for OP last night and got an immediate connect to the server, got to chat a bit, but haven't purchased anything yet or played a game- but it DID connect.
If you goto a command prompt, type in 'ipconfig', your IP address (displayed on the screen) should match the address in the port forward section of your router.
Hope that helps.
