The guy who played one of the Cylons in the new bsg, and was in Quantum Leap... Wondered where the name came from, really.

Great design, as always. I like the keel. Reminds me of part-FASA and part Fandom timeship.

Reminds me of this FASA illustration, suspected to be the Mosby class:

the Ship is named in honour of Willard Rockwell who (with some others)founded Rockwell international...  The guys who brought us the Spaceshuttle, B1 series Bombers, A6 Vigilante, and through their sub-companies (such as North American Aviation) produced the P-51 Mustang, F-86 Sabre,  and others.

I do not have a class name for the ship yet... But I am pondering it.
The ship stands as about 360m in length, and does support an intergrated nacelle concept in conjunction with the more typical nacelle on a pylon.  The "keel" has a sensor suite on its lower pod and a stacked 3 port torpedo/missile/probe launcher just above the sensor.  Finally, the shuttlebay is located in the aft section of the keel, just below the hull line.

I did not think a design like this really warranted more views, but if you insist...

I'm really surprised people haven't commented on the neato deflector, or the integrated centerline nacelle. Awesome.

Thanks Atolm,
I can envision most of these drawings from a side view.  I just like other views.  And seeing as I don't have your gift when it comes to this kind of thing I badger, cajole or whine till I get more.

It would make an excellent looking ship in any game.  Lit up just right it would be a fun time visually flying up on at and just admiring.

It isn't a timeship is it? The bottom fin looks evocative of the design.

Anduril, I haven't forgot the dorsal view, I just haven't drawn (no pun intended) up the spare time, and i need to locate my blasted compass...

no mate, possessing a keel, is not indicative of time travel...  Besides, aren't all fed ships capable time travel by default?

capable? yes I suppose, but they weren't designed to. I guess the Lynx was designed with such a nacelle arrangement to make the 'cold start warp' method of time travel (TOS: Naked Time) more efficient/effective.  The long keel and single nacelle of the rockwell reminded me of this design, is all. I think I've seen that same kind of keel on another kind of spaceship, but I think it might have been outside of star trek *shrug*

Tossing out some tech thoughts  :-[ . I see a test bed for a heavy phaser . Long neck so the test weapon dont kill the crew or ship and hull warp for extra power .  It would rock to see the glow and shine of this design in any game!

I really like your ship design do you have any more? I would really like to build this for sfc if you are happy for me to have a go at it.

atolm-rising I hope you do not disagree with me posting these in here.

I have started to make this ship, but will not release without your permission.
Can I ask some questions regarding the design?

Era seems to be JJ / TMP is this correct, as it looks that way. But to me looks like "Movie" enterprise tech with a "kelvin" texture feel.
What where you thinking for weapon layout and type?

I am very happy with the model so far, thanks to markyd and zephram for the rendering advice.

I was reading the comments regarding the bridge needing more detail, so I have tried to incorpirate that into the model. An observation deck and possibly a shuttle bay, but that would depend on the scale and I will wait to hear from atolm-rising.

I decided to make the impulses unique, and they now have a quad configuration, lower upper main bottom.

adds to the little details.

Now that's pretty damn cool.

Atolm has thousands of drawings scattered about the forums. I don't think even he has a consolidated collection of them all, lol. He's also pretty easy-going about his works. As far as I know he has a "Credit Me" policy. Of course, he'll step in and correct me if I am mistaken.

Thanks. have managed some more, and took some artistic licence on the mid centre neck / pylon. given it a jj feel to match the rest of the design of Atolm-rising's rockwell.

Thanks. I was looking at the warp engines today and noticed they did not seem to have any warp grills? I mean the blue glow area that eminates from the warp coil itself? Do you think it was upper mounted and is just not seen in the views availiable or it is just not seen and is under the hull panelling?

they are there, look on the nacelle towards the back and bottom of it, there should be six rectangles there - which should be what you are looking for
