SFC OP Graphic's Resolution
« on: July 25, 2011, 02:40:40 pm »
I have been trying to change the graphic's to 1280 Resolution but haven't seen a difference in the game. Any idea's on how to get the graphic's looking better?

Well, it doesn't make everything look 5 generations newer, lol.

It should shrink and sharpen the UI a lot, though.

Ensure that sfc.ini in the install dir is not read-only.

Yea true on the 5 generations newer. Some how I just remember the graphic's being a little smoother. I did check the sfc.ini and it wasn't on read only.

When I run the Setup Utility in the Taldren folder it detects and see's my graphic's card and I choose the 1280x1024 resolution and then I click ok and it closes the screen. So I am guessing I am running at 1280x1024 just thought the graphic's would be smoother.

About my system:
Running Windows 7 (sadly)
I am running on a 27" flat screen
I have an Asus gaming laptop so all the other spec's are pretty beast.

Any additional thoughts?

I think the graphics are pretty good even for a game this old.  Although a lot of it has to do with the fact that the models are more detailed than stock.  I just have a hard time playing with stock models at this point.

Go to the starfleet command folder, find the sfc.ini file and open it.   Find a setting that say "lowres=?"  and see what the number there says.  1280x1024 should be 4, 5, or 6  depending on what your resolution can max out at.   I ran mine at 1600x1200 on my old monitor, but this one I have now I run a little lower since it's a wide screen...
screen shots at 1600x1200 should look like this  ;)

Did you download 4.1 mod with models? A lot of those have much more shiny effects on them.

Hey Capt Jeff that worked like a charm!! I put my lowres on 6 and it looks like your screen shots! Thanks man.

Hey Strat yes I did download 4.1 with models but it was really Capt Jeff's idea on the lowres in the sfc.ini file that really did it but thanks for the help! ;)
