SFC 2: Community Edition Open Beta
« on: September 15, 2012, 09:14:47 am »
I'm posting this here just in case some of us have missed it, but we have a new beta!

SFC 2:CE is based on the SFC 2:EAW source, but has several advancments already, including Windows Vista/7/8 in the Online Dynaverse!!! Already people are playing on our test server!

If you would like to check it out, see our forum section on Dynaverse.Net:
http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/board,3304.0.html

Thanks,
Strat

Well, a lot has changed really. I suggest first you look over some of the threads where those questions have already been addressed:

Requirements and how to install:
http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163392826.0.html

Change log (there have been an addition 5 patches since the inital release of SFC 2:CE, so as I said, a lot has changed)
http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163392833.0.html

If you read through that ( and look over the other stickies )and still have a specific question, I'd be glad to address it.

Bud - spread the word. We can't get this out if we don't have a good amount of testers.

Is there any way to incorporate the OP firiring arcs?   Specifically the Klingon ones.

Anyone remember, is fighter AI retarded in EAW like it was in OP's final patch?

I've only flown versus klingon and romulan fighters/PFs with the beta and didn't think that they were flying stupid.

Oh and the AI is a particular pain for me. I have fixed some things, but others are just poor coding and I can't track decipher the AI logic. As Tobin pointed out, I've made some changes and progress, and I know of other 'limitations' of AI behavior.

If they become major again, I may assign time to them.

Klingon fighters rarely stray into amd range, genrally attacking between range 5 to 8 then withdrawing for re-arming. I guess you could say they are acting conservatively agressive? Seems like an ok balance.

Oh that's so friggin nice.   it'd be so nice if you could just get the F14s to dump drones at range 15 and flow back to the carrier.
