Question about "Heavy Phasers" in OP...
FPF_TraceyG:
The Heavy Phaser A also has an EMP-like effect on the target's weapons systems. For a short time, the target vessel will be unable to fire some of it's weapons due to this effect. (taken from the Orion Pirates manual).
3dot14:
HphA is the obvious predecessor to the Myotronic Beam in SFC3...
Also phB's "shield hit" damage is a third of its "hull hit" damage. (listed in above chart) That's what I remember anyhow...
Magnum357:
Thanks Tracey and 3Dot. I'll say one thing, those are very different Phasers than I'm use too. I had no idea that the PHA effected a targets weapon fire. I wonder why the PHB only does 1/3 the damage to sheilds. I take it then that the PHB is not a good weapon to use against sheilds, only to fire through unsheilded targets.

You nailed it on the head. It is designed to really pulverize bare hull, but diffuses easier against shields.
The power draw for both the Heavy A and B Phasers is 2, even while holding so they work like disruptors in that respect. There is no capacitor for them. They take 2 turns to arm.
PH-G2's take one point of power same as a PH-G. They do go into the capacitor.
Magnum357:
Are the PH-G2's in SFB too? I don't think I ever heard of them etheir. And from the looks of their damage effect they seem to have a lot longer range then the old PH-G. Although I don't have the Manual for X ships (aside from the one in Advanced missions) I thought the PH-G2 was suppose to be the damage values of a PH-2 only fired 4 times. I might be wrong on that, just heard it somewhere is all.
