The Klingon J4 "Prowler" heavy patrol frigate.
-----------------------------------------------

The J4 patrol frigate is solely operated by the Klingon Internal Security Fleet and was built to their specifications. Unlike the Black Fleet and Deep Space Fleet, the Internal Security Fleet (ISF) is not so well funded. Therefore the J4 was built down to a budget.

During the early years of the general war, pirates sought to take advantage of the reassignment of many Klingon frigates to the Deep Space Fleet and millitary convoy escort duty. The Internal Security Fleet found itself tasked with defending the Empire's territory with a collection of obstellete cruisers, frigates, skiffs and gunboats.

To make matters worst the pirates were up grading their vessel's armament and defences.

A major pirate raid inside Klingon home territory, which resulted in a fierce battle, caused the detruction of many of these obstellete ISF vessels. This finally allowed the Internal Security Fleet command to have the ear of the High Council and funding was allocated for new dedicated ISF frigate design.

In order to build as many new frigates as possible from the budget, the J4 design used as many common mass produced parts as possible with tried and tested technology.

The command bulb is from a D6 attached to a E4/F4 frigate boom. The main hull is the only specialised part of the ship and is designed to reduce the J4's mass whilst still allowing for a decent amount of armaments and power systems to be contained within.

Propulsion was originlly intended to be by two D6 warp engines, but war production needs forced the designers to opt for three F5 frigate warp engines. The standard common impulse power unit is used.

Because the J4 needs to carry a large number either fighters or shuttles for investigating asteroid belts, ground attack and ground support against pirate camps or bases, the J4 features a larger hangar bay than normal on Klingon frigates.

The J4 is rarely found on the front line as they are intended to operate inside the Klingon Empire's borders, constantly patrolling, always ready to demonstrate the penalty for daring to cross the Empire's borders.

Steps to install
----------------

1. Make a new directory in your Starfleet Command\Assets\Models\ folder called "KJ4"
2. Copy the contents of the zip file into the new "Starfleet Command\Assets\Models\KJ4\" folder.
3. Finally, open the sfbspc.txt file (or shiplist.txt in sfc II) located in the
Starfleet Command\Assets\Specs\ folder with MS Excel.

    a. From here you have two choices you can:

	1. Replace the model geometry of one of the existing ships (the list of D5 light cruisers above are my picks) with the following \Assets\Models\KJ4\KJ4.mod

    b. Or :

	1. you can insert the J6 stats inbetween the existing row entries of the sfbspc13.txt file. (or shiplist.txt in sfc II)
<<CAUTION: This may cause some problems with the function of SFC, espically during
	     Multiplayer and Single player campaigns>>
