The Klingon E1 Escort.
-----------------------------------------------

The Klingon E1 was a government designed escort starship contracted out to various shipyards in the Klingon Empire. The design was intended to be resourcefully cheap and easy to build in times of war. Unfortunately the E1 was designed in a period of peace within the Klingon Empire and it was 12 years before mobilisation for a coming war saw the first E1 constructed and commisioned for active service. This was part of secret preparations for what became the 1st Klingon - Kzinti War. Over 200 E1 Escorts were constructed during preparations.

It soon became rapidly obvious, once the hostilities had begun, that the E1 was seriously flawed even when put up against the inferiour Kzinti standard frigate. Losses were so horrific that all E1 Escorts were withdrawn from front line service during the first year of the war.

Throughout the second year of the war the surviving forty two E1 Escorts were deployed as rear area system defence ships, picket boats amd in minor patrol roles. However another 18 ships were destroyed or rendered unsalvageable during this period, due to Kzinti actions.

At the end of the war the remaining E1 Escorts were reassigned to cadet training, never to see active service again.

The severe lessons learn from the E1 experience led to a more considered approach when the E2 Escort design programme commenced.

(2) Move the model folder to Starfleet Comamnd/Assets/Models folder. If you're smart enough to have all the races in seperate folders then place this ship in the Federation folder.

(3) Copy the Shiplist fragment and paste it into the Federation FF part of your Shiplist file in Starfleet Command/Assets/Specs/Sfbspc13.txt

(4) Modify the model folder references to suit your own SFC models directory structure.

Note: That to use these ships in a game you'll need to have at least one stock ship or station flying wingman with it otherwise the game will crash.
