Two years is a long time to spend looking for something on the internet. Are you sure your modem was plugged in and turned on?

I know when I first tried to download something from there I thought I didn't want to pay to download either but if you page down a bit you'll see that there are free public servers listed after the pay for use servers. Use these and they are free.

You will need Gamespy to play skirmishes online
