I went to ST.com and the Q and A said something about Kirk almost ordering a saucer seperation of the Enterprise(I'm assuming not 1701-A). So has anybody thought of making the 1701 with seprated saucer and stardrive like 1701-D. It would be somthing weird lookin though. Any comments?

Hey man,
According to multiple sources, the All of the Enterprises, have had the ability to saucer sep....but it wassent
for the advant of the Galaxy Class that a Starbase or dock was not Needed to reconnect both pieces
now as for seeing that in the game...that would be cool

Ya, if I recal, it was an emergency procedure used to escape catastrophic failure of the Star drive section. Even SFB rules allowed saucer seperation for escape purposes.

Your right its not the A but the refit Enterprise. In TMP Roddenberry wanted the three Klingon cruisers at the begining of the movie to reappear after V'ger went bye bye and duke it out with the Enterprise the Klingon ships would be destroyed. And because of battle damage the Enterprise had to seperate its saucer. But because of time that ending wasn't used.

well does anybody like the idea of the 2 seperate sections of the enterprise?so can 1701-E seperate too? That would be cool.

Yes the Ent-E can seperate aswell....I am sorry to say that the only ship with the saucer sep that looks good
is the D, The C, and B probably look ok...and the two Connies...well...I don't know. I have made a plenty of
Connie models and all I can say is that the saucer is appea;ing when seperated...but the stardrive...possibly
