What kind of video editing software will I need to have in order to edit the reaplys that I have for Starfleet Command 3?
-
I know nothing about this but what you have isn't video in a rec file. It is just a series of positions and commands that get carried out as if by the AI inside SFC3. If it were video, the rec files would be huge. To make editable video, you'd have to do some short of screen capture of the rec file as it was played in the filmroom. Then you could use almost any videoediting software you can find.

what kind of prgrams would be screen capture like what you're suggesting?

I think FRAPS will do the trick, though I have an older version, so I don't know how the quality will be.

is there anythin out there that'll capture video at a res of 1024x768? I can't set my resolution any lower than that for SFC3 and fraps runs at 640x480, severly hampering the video making process.

The paid version says it'll do 1024x768.

My price is FREE
Anything out there that's free even if it's a trial version for like 10 days? Or can someone hepl me out with cahing the res on sfc3 to 640x480?

A couple years ago, I used Snagit (an older version though) to do movie capture of "The Sims." At the time I had a 466 Mhz Celeron, so the best I could do was 640x480x15fps with reasonable speed, although the program could do higher resolution. Snagit is $40 to buy, but their trial lets you do everything until it expires (and then you can't save).
The quality of video you get really depends on how fast your CPU/memory and harddrive is. Copy data off the screen is actually very slow to do compared to copying data to the screen.
