That whole article is filled with misinformation. For one, the F-14 is not the fastest jet in the navy. It was superceded by the F/A-18 almost twenty years ago. But enough about that.
Nice pic though. I can tell you, it's a lot neateron the inside.

I'm afraid you're mistaken. The F/A 18 Hornet has a Maximum speed of 1320 mph, while the F-14 Tomcat clocks in at 1584 mph. I believe in Mach terms that's Mach 1.3 on the Hornet side, and mach 2.38 on the Tomcat.

and you are wrong too on the max speed of the .F/A -18. Hornet's max is mach 1.81 ( 1.83 for the f-18 E)
Tomcat's speed is right
almost forgot, the fastest US Navy comissioned fighter was the F-4 J Phantom II, capable of mach 2.4

Yeah, I suppose you're right. I'm not too good at converting mph to mach.
