What do you use to get SFC Models into Lightwave...
I need to know this for a school project.

.mod format file ---> import to 3dsmax ---> export from 3dsmax to .3ds ---> import .3ds file into Lightwave ---> export from Lightwave to .LWO

That's alright I guess.... But it does require you to have a copy of both 3DSmax AND Lightwave.... What if you haven't got £1000 lying around???
Actually I have neithr the money OR the software so I dont really know why I've written this...

well then
.mod --> import to 3dsmax --> export as .3ds --> import to Deep Exploration --> Export as .LWO

Might have a cheaper alternative (James Formo could probably confirm this).
.Mod -> Assimsoft Milkshape plugin -> Milkshape -> .LWO -> Lightwave

One Problem...when i export into the 3ds Format, it chops off some of the characters for the materials making all the materials the same name....any way around this?
Its giving me this error:
"Non 8.3 Bitmap Filename [xmmer1_1.bmp] has been renamed to [xmmer_1_.bmp]."
so as you can see, all the textures are ending up the same
Is there any way to rememdy this save going into the material library and changing all the material bitmap names?
