Title: What's it mean when you can't repair your ship in a campaign?

Does anyone know anything about this?

I would like to know why as well. I imagine its the computers way of screwing us over for playing with the shiplist.  I always at some point or another have a ship with 5 points of damage that can't be fixed. I think its actually kind of cool if its on a ship that is old and can't be fully repaired.  I think its like hull damage or something but ur ship shows no damage ingame.

If you're talking about a few points of damage that can never be repaired in dock, then it's happened to me too.  I found that when I run into this I just wait for anothr mission, and the first thing I do is repair the AMD.  That's always fixed it for me.

It only seems to happen to me when I mod the shiplist for the ship(s) I currently own in the campaign.  I usually buy a ship I know I'm not going to change, ditch the one I am and go back into shipedit, delete the ship and recreate it.

What about this......the "shuttle", "marine", Repair parts", etc buttons are darkened in drydock. How odd......

The only time I've had that happen (darkened buttons) is when I'm at a non fed base station. The unreliable repair issue is annoying, but it always seems to only be a few points, so I don't worry about it.

I've done that on purpose before by editing the shiplist for pre TOS ships that didnt have transporters or tractor beams. Just don't put an entry in the appropriate field in Ship edit, and, voila ... a darkened in device box - even in drydock. Just tossing this out there, no matter how obvious it may seem...

Here's another interesting tidbit...........I was on a planetary assau;lt mission, and I got in real close to the planet with my Coventry and Ptolemy Battle Tug and started pounding the planet with photons and suicide shuttles and phasers, which was quite fun of course. But then all of a sudden some (I think) Phaser-4's started firing presumably from the planet and destroyed my Coventry. Howevr.....the strange thing is......on the status display, the planet showed as having no weapons. If it had had weapons I'd have taken them out, first thing I did.

Do some planets have "hidden" batteries that you can't target?

Yes some planets have hidden phasers and lie in wait for you until you get close enough.
