Anyone know when this patch gonna be out?
-
I was under the impression that it was supposed to be finished by last week, but if they're running late probably this week or next.
The above is a totally uninformed opinion other than reading posts from the activision QA rep here on the taldren boards.

I think it will prob be out next week ..... maybe by the weeknd if we are lucky but if its not dont be pissy lol

Patch? There's a patch? Sheesh. I guess if I'd taken the time to scan the threads of this forum I'd know there is a patch in the works and when it might become available for down load.
But I haven't done any of those things. I have no clue and can't help you. Sorry.

I'm not one of those that are constantly bashing on the forums about the patch ( altough if thoughts and mental curses count, taldren staff might find themselves facing the bubonic plague or the ebola virus considering what i have wished for them sometimes)..
Nevertheless, i noticed that this thread starter has a very limited number of posts ( 1 ?), and so It might be someone that got the game very recently and simply wants to know when a patch is going to be released to fix some particular nasty bug that he encountered or something like that.
so, lets be a bit less mean .
There are people out there ( like some of my friends) that simply can't understand how a game that is on the market since November, with a considerable number of bugs and a considerable high price for my country standard ( 57.5 euros when most other games go for around 40 ) , hasn't been at least patched once yet .
I want to make clear that this is not a flame directed to taldren or even Activision, and that I feel that writting stuff to try to get the patch sooner, like many have done before, is completly irrelevant to the final outcome. But, at the same time, it is with some regret that i see many of my close friends either disconnecting themselves from the game simply as a result of many multiplayer bugs; or asking me, that told them to buy the game, where is the patch /when we get a patch.
-
Here is how to work out the patch.
If today is any day OTHER than a friday, the patch is due this friday upcoming. If it is a friday, it's due the following friday. Be sure to check in daily for best results.

If it helps even more, just picture yourself feeling good and satisfied when you finally get the patch...hey, wait! The patch is out!!!!!!
-
"Like HELL it is!" came the swift reply from the frustrated sfc3 customer.....
-
I believe it was Dave that said, "Hopefully the 14th." So, I guess, any day now. That wasn't a guarantee though. We'll just have to wait and see. As you can tell, some people are getting a little testy about it and others slaphappy
We're all just anxious.

At this rate, Taldren should have a persistent thread to inform about the next patch status... Only to avoid having a thousand comments and threads... blah blah.
Also, the patch have new content (I think that even a borg campaign) so the guys at Activision Q&A has work to do... Keep in mind that usually Q&A is a bidirectional process, so if in Activision they find something unpleasant (here is where different companies distinguish themselves... On what is "unpleasant product quality" to release
) then Taldren guys need to do some modifications and so on... Now if you think in that the chances on Q&A issues are related to the modification degree introduced by the patch... Then you can expect a lot of content in this one (of course ALL of the above scaled by a "Qualification Speed" factor characteristic of each Q&A department...
).
P.S. As usual, excuse me for my poor english.

Thanks folks, just wandering.

If you read ALL the posts about when the patch is comming, you realise that actually you Donīt KNOW.
I think even Taldren donīt know exactly when. So i will save all my posts and replies to thanks and congratulate Taldren when finally release the patch.
I canīt imagine the look on my face when i saw in the forums an official link to download it.
It is worth the log wait.
ps: sorry for my rude english,

Well, I just hope we're not left waiting as long as the poor folks who are waiting on Master of Orion 3. Now there's a game that's slipped big time!

Taldren tried that before and got nothing but trouble for it. I think they should have stuck to their policy they adopted after the debacle that ensued from SFC2 patches of remaining silent until the announcement of the patch.
And as always, the patch will be released when it is ready and not before.

I think activision wich is maker of the patch is the slowest to make patches for there games and half there games end up being beta's in a box. For instance it took 6 months to get a patch for armada 1 and then another year to get a patch to fix that patch although i do enjoy playing a1 a2 just plain sucks. a2 ended up being more of a arcade game then a rts game. Then you have bridge commander wich wasent going to have mulitiplayer then they decieded to add online mulitplayer aspect to the game wich was poorly done.. Its a shame activision doesnt support there games like they should. I like taldren hate activision 9 times out of 10 activision means a waste of money. The patch for sfc3 should have been out long ago wating so long only kills sales of games in the long run alot of game sales are by word of mouth between gamers.

The patch will be out in the week beginning 24th February.

I don't know about Activision being bad per se. They are, after all, the first and one of the largest independent gaming companies out there. Electronic Arts may be No.1, but Activision is the oldest in its class. They've produced many, many game titles over the years, most of which have become classics that will forever be fondly remembered by long-time veteran gamers as major contributors to what the gaming industry is today, both for console platforms and the PC.
As for Activision handling the Star Trek Next Gen. license, they've been....moderately successful and have done an overall good job with it IMHO. SFC1 and SFC2: EAW were published by Interplay. If Interplay were publisher of SFC3, then I wouldn't doubt the patch would've come out sooner since their QA people have more experience with the SFC engine. But this is not the case with Activision. So they may need more time to get acquainted with how SFC works...
In the end, you can't really blame Activison for shelling out less-than-complete games. This is a business, and money is the most important factor. When developers strike a deal with their publisher, and the result from the former is less than favorable to the latter, then sometimes as a publisher you either scrap the project entirely and cut your losses, or you release anyways and hope to make a profit despite the odds. In the case with SFC3, most likely Paramount put pressure on Activision to release the game prior to the opening of the movie Star Trek: Nemesis as part of a markerting blitz for the month of December. Big mistake since Lord of the Rings: TTT was due for release that same month...
That's my speech for the day....
-
I do have to agree with some of what you said its all about money in the end. It would be nice to see a star trek game that was actually complete and well programed. I stoped buying star trek games as soon as they are released. Because of crapy gameplay in some games and bugs in othesr. I do have to to say that activision did better then the makers of dominion wars i have a nice little $40 dollar coaster for my drinks. These companys would make more money though if they released well programed complete games not betas in a box. Bigger or older companies doesnt mean better games. Just means more eye candie alot of the time.
Sfc2 did well because of content graphics are not stunning but they are decent.
Releasing a movie right before lord of the rings the twin towers i would have to agree was plain out dumb.

Actually,Taldren has no say in when the patch gets released...if they did it would have been out by now.
It's all up to Activision.

The 28th eh? Hmm...methinks I'll be picking up Master of Orion 3 and play that instead, them maybe I'll consider getting the patch a week or two later. SFC3 is almost a "back-burner" game to me now...sad but true. If only the patch came sooner.
