Hey All...
Finally decided to get SFC3. Loaded it up, installed the DX fix and the newest patch.
Running a pretty screaming machine and yet I do not see my weapons fire. I see light reflected off of the ships, and I see damage, but no beam and no photons. Strange...any insights.

You didn't install the DX patch AND the beta patch I hope, that would be one problem right off.
-
Well I did install both..not knowing any better

Unistalled game and reinstalled using only the patch this time.
Same problem still there. Seems that no matter how I set display settings I still get no visual weapon fire.
HELP?
I am running a 2.5GHZ machine with an ATI 9800PRO.

What Is It about the radeons and this game... Try Rolling back you Driver To Catalyse 3.7
I've Not Had A problem WIth SFc3 WIth My Radeon 7500 But It appears Everyone with The 9000 Series Is Running Into Problems.
-
It is highly recommended that you delete the entire game directory prior to re-installation to ensure that all files are replaced. But there are some known issues with ATI (big surprise there) Radeon drivers unfortunately.
-
Dont forget the latest nvidia drivers completely ruining the game...
-
I've found some other display problems now too...
I'm presently downloaded the older 3.7 drivers to see if that helps...who knows.
I'm really bummed.
Let ya know if it fixes it..any other suggestions are appreciated.
Anyone out there with a 9000Ati got it working?
-
Bump, we got either the same guy or two people with same problems.

Ok, just noticed the Radeon Card....
Downgrade your drivers to one of the following :
catalist 3.7
Catalist 3.6
Catalist 2.6
Catalist 2.3
then go into your SFC 3 game directory and find the SFC3.exe
right click on the file and select properties..
click on compatibility tab at top
make sure nothing has a checkmark in it...
click OK
run game to see if this works.. if not, then go back into the Compatibility tab...
put a checkmark in "Disable Visual Themes" and click OK
Try game..
if game still does not work, then try a different video driver.. make sure to reset your color settings back to 16 bit.. once you find that game is working.. try raising your desktop color lever first to 24 bit then to 32 bit.. if problems occue .. revert to a lower color setting...
Hope that this information helps...

I'm having the same problem. I'm using a Radeon 9700. Tried all the suggested courses of action: Disable Visual Themes, downgrade Catalyst, etc. Never had this problem "before" - I've played SFC3 perfectly on this system until I recently reinstalled it.

How so? I just installed the 52.16 drivers and the game appears purtier than ever on
my GeForce FX 5900 Ultra.
Thanks,

raedon 9000 here had simalar problems in the beginning am now running updated drivers but ended up removing catylst entirely there are tools at ati's site to do this also got rid of the multimedia thing. I still have access to card controls and everyting is working fine . Dunno if it'll help but it worked for me unless I stumbled on something else accidently without knowing it.

this was sent to me from staff at raedon after I sent them a very nasty email about their products
