I played it in-game with specs I made up, and it's quite interesting against Trek ships. I'm gonna think up some specs for the enemy ships and try it. The Yamato has over 20 missile / torpedo launchers, so it is quite the wicked drone ship. I'm gonna make the Yamato's fighters and shuttle now.

sweetness.  I'm workin' on some of the enemy ships now (although I don't have the textures done for the other EDF ships I've done, because I don't know what they look like.  Can't find anything other than the schematics for some of them.  May just have to make it up, based on other ships).  Of course mine won't look as glorious as yours does.

The first enemy project I'll be doing is that little Gamilon destroyer.......I don't suppose you have that meshed already, do you?

In fact, would you like to send me the EDF ships you've meshed but haven't textured yet? I might be able to do them.....only if that's OK with you though of course.

Heh, actually I was working on the Gamilon Exterminator Destroyer, but there are others.  Let me know which you are feeling like you want to do.  I can always alter it into another version, like the Eradicator or something.  I'll pack up the few I've done so far, if you'd like to take a whack at the textures.  Having never seen the series and working off so few pics of anything other than a couple of ships, it's kind of tough.  I was gettin' to the point where I was just going to look at the pics that I had and make the rest up.

Right now, I'm going to do all the EDF fighters:

Black Tiger

Cosmo Zero

Cosmo Tiger (and variants, including the torpedo one)

Cosmo Hound (shuttle)

Plus that little Gamilon Detsroyer. Also the Gamilon Tri-Deck Carrier. I figure we need at least those ships in order to have a satisfying shoot-out.

What did the Gamilon fighter look like?

The Gamilon Destroyer is meshed! This is the most important Gamilon ship, imo, because it is the main cannon fodder for the Yamato. This ship should be rushing the Yamato in packs in a large group, but the Yamato should try to keep distance and pick them off at long range. If it's specced correctly you can have them blowing up after one ream from the Yamato's main shock turrets.

Well. I've finished the Gam DD, but my server says "disk quota exceeded" so I'm gonna have to get in contact with TGU and get them to give me more disc space or something. Until that happens, I can't even post a pic! I tried deleting unneeded files, but still the same thing. Anyways, it shore is looking sweet.

Thanks Captain Ron! The LOD 1 model you see here is only 1027 poly, the LOD 2 and 3 will be much less, so we can afford to have many of these on at once.

Next project is the Gamilon Carrier.........I figure you need to take out an enemy carrier after wading past the destroyers, to be really satisfying.

Well, since they are designed along the lines of modern naval warships, why not use the dimensions for them? The yamato is a battleship, right? So go with the dimensions for, say, the USS Missouri, or use the dimensions for the actual Yamato from WW2. Or, as you said, guesstimate.

Well, I just tried out the Yamato in-game against a bunch of Gamilon Destroyers........and as per the TV show, it was no competition! The Gamilons need at least a carrier and a lot of fighters to support the Destroyers, otherwise the Destroyers just get picked off.

I have a list of dimensions for almost all the ships. I'll try and get a list togeather but in the mean time what do you need right now?

I'm also getting the binder cut off my Starblazers FBS rules system book so I can post the data there in. Just have to get to a Kinkos. :P

Lastly if you need a site to host DL files for the ANY work done on this feel free to let me know. SFCx has it's own server and will be more than glad to help out. We'd just make you an account and off you go.

Sorry for the delay folks...I'm finishing up both the Gamilon Destroyer and the Yamato with more imaginative textures and proper LOD's. They shall both be stunning when finished. I'm not far form finishing, but there is the added problem that I have run out of server space...

If not I will ask Mackie but I don't think it will be a problem

Server Space I have 800 MB still available so that is not an issue
Files Have to be under 10 MB in size so not an issue
BandWidth need to check with Mackie on that one.

I  can give you some space on my server no problem. I'll set it up and PM you the details. I have no bandwidth limits.

I'd prefer this be used just for the SB models but in a pinch your free to use it for whatever you need just keep it reasonable.

Strangely enough I don't seem to have this in the manuals I have. I have another tech manual on order but no eta on it so looks like your back to an educated guess.

Is that the standard Arcadia or is it different?  Check out http://www.shipschematics.net/yamato/images/edf/battleship_arcadia2.jpg and compare.  I think there was an arcadia made at one point, but I don't remember who made it, still Atra does incredible work so it'd be nice to see one done by him too.

Sorry this one has been dragging on for quite a bit, but keep in mind it's gonna be a package of three ships (Yamato, fighter, Gam destroyer) and also I've been waitingh for Dolph at the Gamer's Union to give me more space, which will happen next week.

I can't wiat to finish these up and move on to other projects that I've been itching to do.

Atra, i think i can help you w/ all the the ship sizes. i have the Starblazers Technical Manual. the specs for the Gam DD are:

Lenght: 72 m
Beam: 20.2 m
Height: 20.9 m
