Who are some of the most famous names known for exploration or scientists that contributed to Space Exploration ...  

DR Goddard comes to my mind ....  just curious !

Of course the Normally given Names:
Newton
Herman Bank
Frank J. Malina
M.O. Smith
Von Karman
Firouz Naderi
William H. Pickering

Other names that come to mind wether through fiction or otherwise:

Daedalus and Icarus
Archimides
Galileo
Copernicus
DaVinci,
Jules Verne
 H.G. Wells

they of course inspired the likes of :

Wright brothers
 Robert Goddard
 Kanstantin Tsiolkovsky
 Hermann Oberth,
Wernher Von Braun,
Sergey Korolev (the famed "Chief Designer" of the Soviet space program)
 Yuri Gagarin
 and Neil Armstrong
