http://www.maxplugins.de/max4.php?range=Import%20/%20Export   do a search for " lwo"  i think there were 2 of them that imported lightwave in to max  i still have yet to find a max to lightwave exporter though

lightwave can import .3ds files though

I find that particular importer doesn't like mackies ships. But it works on the ones from peonix shipyards.
