Title: Petition to Taldren: Fighters for SFC3

I Hope that this is at least considered, as this is not asked with any malace.

Could we please have fighters in SFC3?
I am of the belief that this would seriuosly rethink people strategies and add a deeper element to the game.
Not only this, but in TNG they actually used various fighters.

Now i understand that we can change the shuttle to look/act like a fighter, but the thing is, this only allows for one fighter per race, and lets face it, thats not enough.

Think of it, if we add this capability not only would it add to the normal game, but there would be a great influx of modders into the SFC3 group, not just for SFC2 and/or Orion Pirates.

How could this be done? The answer would be in two parts I think, with one part addressing the legal issues and the other addressing the technical issues of AI programming and interface changes.

if you look at TNZ 3.0 it had fighters which were modded into the game.

Last time i heard anything TNZ is no long available.

How did they do such?
If it was a case of just making Fighters into Frigates with Fighter models, im afraid thats not quite what im lookin for

it isnt available per sae although some folk are trying to restart it under a different name.

i am not sure what they did/how they did it.. but they were fighters which you could send out and recall.. had photons and all.

what im wondering is if they were just shuttles redone

Could you select what kind of fighter you could have?

i have never played tnz, but in dominion wars, there are different fighters than from the stock game, but you can't choose between more than one for each race...

I think in the TNZ fighters were put into shuttle slot.

In TNZ the fighters are re-modled shuttles given shields & weapons to make them survive a little longer.

Just a personal opinion but I don't see why you'd want them.

Fighters were limited to training use and in general were not used "in mass" in the TNG universe. Small star craft were used for sure, like the Maques raider but nothing like the mass fighter groups a la SFB. So why ask for them? If you really want to play a carrier Captain just play OP.

Fighters were used by the Federation in the Dominion war, infact, the designer of the Akira class stated in an interview that it was intended to be a through-deck cruiser (carrier). The Romulans (at least the Remans) showed a move toward fighter tactics in Star Trek Nemisis by outfitting the Scimitar armed with several "Scorpion Class" fighters. That said, though, fighters are not normally characteristic of Star Trek. Star Trek style battles tend to harken back to Roman naval warfare where every shot, ramming, boarding, and manuver counted. This is very different from the Star Wars syle of space battle which simulates air battles with active fighter jets and stagnet carriers.

This is a great idea, a little gui change and another class or two, 4 new models. poof, the fans will buy your next game becuase they know youll answer the demand. Im dissapointed coming from sfc2 to sfc3, so much potential. At this point i dont think ill buy sfc4. Im recomending to others to be weary as sfc3 had less meat to its gameplay bones than sfc2. Yes configurable (like hardpoints or anyother refit) fighters, would add leagues to gameplay.

PLEASE ADD FIGHTERS!  

Lag isnt an issue, 4 fighters positions are updated like 1 shuttles is. They move as a unified unit. They fire theyre weapons as a single game object etc..

PLEASE ADD FIGHTERS!

 Well if we're going to petition for the addition of fighters, then lets have a petition to have a couple of new races introduced i.e Dominion and Cardassians. Also add in time frames i.e early/ mid/ late.

Don't have OP and I can't seem to find it in any shops so bad luck to me.

 This is all unlikely to happen unless there is an expansion, and that is unlikely given the present state of affairs (but here's hoping all the same).

i have never played tnz, but in dominion wars, there are different fighters than from the stock game, but you can't choose between more than one for each race...
