Space ship shield technology begins to evolve.
radiation shields
this along with my links to hydrogenated polymer shields and cold plasma shield research should belay many qualms about long interplanetary or ointerstellar trips.
-
Thanks again Storm!!!! You are becoming an valuable source of the latest news in space travel.
I really do enjoy these posts as do my girls.
Thanks again!!
-
not a chore at all. you're welcome.
I enjoy doing it. moreso than any political stuff. Unfortunately few people besides you and a handful of others seem to share my fascination with it.
-
You can count me among that group.
-
glad to hear it. I find these things and post them in hopes of getting at least some discussion out of it. So far, the thread I had the most luck with is my building a planet one. hold on let me see if I can find the link to the cold plasma shield article. it was also at space.com I think.
-
Just start the sentence with Liberals state!! or Gay Scientist Discovers!!. Or even better yet Topless woman!!!, And i bet you will get a ton of hits!

People might be a bit disappointed by the content, But they might just lean something.
-
Here is the cold plasma shield link:
star trek shields
woohooo!
Now let me see if I can find the hydrogenated polymer shield article. I've linked to it here before I think.
-
That was amazing i had NO idea. And i try to keep up on these things.
Shields and a cloak all in one package!! I wonder what the military has that we don't even know about?
-
I think they get the least discussion because nobody knows what the hell they're talking about.
-
here is the NASA hydrogen impregnated polymer shield tech article:
everything's better in plastic...
-
Storm that link hooks to Taldrens who is online.
I think that this is the link you were trying for.
Here is another related link
-
thanks. just found the bad link myself. Will edit it.
I fixed it. The problem with leaving that page up is when it updates it changess the URL in the address bar. I did not notice until i went somewhere elsse to give the link. Pretty embarrassing and it happens all the tiem, making it worse.
-
By the way I love that second link. a really good find.

While I don't post in your science threads often I do enjoy the imformation that you provide, keep it up Storm.
-
I wonder if those garments made out of that fabric. Start to break down after constant use?
-
yes that would work! mwahahahahah!
-
that was a question one ofthe experts in the article was asking so I assume they don't know yet. However, It appears to be the same material in the polymer article in which case It does. So the poly article said.
-
Thanks Stormbringer.I read about already in Star Treks Communicator in the treknology dossier it is very interesting.I read as well on the site though that cloaking would be possible.Well we will get there yet and it just foes to show you how the science of star trek is possible now if we can only get warp drive worked out. Thanks again Storm and Nemesis
PS that site is a definitely a keeper for me now that there is no more Final Frontier Magazine
-
you are most welcome.you might tell your friends over in the other forums. many of them don't visit these forums often and it will soon disappear into the back pages.
-
Not if you change the title like i sugessted?
I mean heck it works wonderfully for the media.
Im serious start the title with" Top Less Woman Discovers", And this will be the only thread that is read tonight.
-
I might try that when I post the links over at Toasty0's forums.
-
Yea, i don't know if we would get in trouble for it here, But I'm dieing to see if it works.
-
Thanks for posting this article, Storm, interesting stuff. Put me down for one of those that doesn't really understand all of what they are talking about. That rural Ohio high school education only goes so far!
But it is nice to see that they are at least working on things like this. Hopefully we will see some application for it in our lifetimes.
-
I put it in as a kind of subtitle in toasty's forum. Naked liberal claims...etc. so we can test your "theory" out.
-
I need to find a link to the story Jerry, But I saw today on discovery Channel, That guy who invinted the Bear Proof suit, had came up with a new Paste, that when hardened, can take Temperatures in excess of 3600 Deg. farenhieght I beleive, + It's lighter then aluminum.
To put this in Perspective, The space shuttle on re-entry Takes only 3000 Degrees.

I dunno stephen. There was a guy in scotland. a self taught chemist, who created a material called starlite plastic which was tougher than carbon carbon matrix tiles on the shuttle and could take a direct hit (thermally speaking of course) from a big nuke and not melt. He was trying to get the corporations to give him proper royalties and such. I never heard if it got sorted out. This guy is actually a hairdresser of all things. Could this be the same person? I've not heard anything about starlite plastic in almost a decade. But it was on the science shows back then. I cannot verify through any means that that story was true. If you can find collaberating evidence, I would be most happy.
-
Please tell me how it works out!!
-
If you heard about it and suddenly vanished, I will bet it was snatched up by the military.
I could tell you about some things i have seen in Nevada at Groom Lake but i have no wish to go to prison.
-
If that stuff was real it could have been applied to the shuttles and we'd have no second shuttle disaster and no real nead to end the program or replace them. Also it would make spacecraft almost as cheap to make as big jets.
-
By the way the shows I watched had independent scientists and engineers frying the stuff all sorts of ways trying to melt it. And likethe shuttle tiles you could touch one side while a blow torch was applied to the other. I saw that much on the show.
-
I'll try and find the Link Jerry. I know I saw the story on discovery's this week on the discovery channel. all I can find though is the Guys Mark 7 Bear suit.
If I find It, I'll let you know.

while searrching for your plastic story or the starlite plastic story I ran across this material.
New Sail material and space shipe structural and ancilliary systems material.
I may have to ask Death Merchant for Search engine keyword ideas. I'm not finding anything. I've got a few more avenues to try. But It's geting pretty close to failure here.
