Thanks to you, THU11's, I have actually started playing more Lyran missions. The ships now have the great looks to go with the great weapons.

Well there in SFB the Lyrans had different coloured ships for different fleets, the Red Claw duchy (which is the crest Thu11s has chosen) had sand coloured hulls, the Enemy's Blood duchy had dark grey hulls, on the Hydran border I believe. The homeworld fleet, foremost fleet, and Apex fleet had pelt designs similar to these. While the Far Stars duchy had dark brown ships with the exception of two of it's counties, Dark Storm who's ships had blue and grey striped hulls and the Nioght Star fleet who's ships were jet black, they were the outermost exploration fleets so I suppose no one cared if they painted their ships weird colours. It might be cool to see the Night Star fleet with those black panther pelts.

Somebody here can retexture them as requested I'm sure. The important thing is that Thulls release this and the rest of the Lyran fleet he's working on LOL.

Well said, KF! THU11's, take as much time as you need. I was just venting an idea, is all. Seeing Lyran ships as beautiful as yours, I couldn't resist speculating.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to come off as demanding (well,maybe a little... so sue me!). I just wanted to see a different paint job if he had time after he got done with all the ships.

Thu11 is BY FAR the best TMP-era SFB-style model maker out there- his quality and diversity shows that; how many other modelers have completely redone the Western Races... and then turn around and start re-doing the re-dos?

I'm just wondering what the Dark Storm's ships would look like. If I could get my hands on Photoshop, I'd start trying it myself... but I can't afford it.

Carney, this PDF show's the colour-schemes of the 21 Lyran Counties excluding the one that left to become the LDR obviously. The Dark Storm pattern would be quite a challenge to implement as it has to match going from section to section of the ship and if you just applied a series of stripes across the texture there will be major mapping differences and the pattern wont match up. I'm not trying to disuade you from trying, far from it I'd love to see the Dark Storm County fleet but just giving warning of the difficulty.

Oh BTW if you have Paint Shop Pro version 8 then you can open PSD files with it.

Holy shiiiiiiiiiite that looks good. Not sure about keeping the Tiger pelt on it, kinda looks odd as it doesn't blend in with the blue and grey, still very nice variant anyways.

I know what you mean, thats why I went with the Red Claw Duchy. Unfortunately if I make the Tiger stripes grey, I'll have to call it the Zebra class heavy cruiser      Dunno if I'll pursue it anyway, just mucking about

Please pursue it, but they don't all have to have the unique stripes for each class, maybe these 'unique' fleets paint their ships completely this way, like the Night Star fleet ships would be completely black, or very dark grey/brown. while these are just the blue/grey stripe pattern.

Waahoo! fantastic, BTW Thu11s I've got the LDR Cheetah up and running, looks pretty cool, though the tiled pattern I used is starting to show up a tiny bit on the small ship, shall I send the textures to you?

BTW Thu11s, I recall a rather cool design for a Lyran BBH that involved placing 2 centre sections in between the Tiger hulls making a quadramaran? Anyway, it reminded me of Thu11s old alternative Battleship.  I found it on the site where you found that SSD for a Lyran X-ship.
