I have the same problem adam... I personally feel that ME is a good operating sys... never had any problems with it... except for artifex... I was hoping someone could write a patch... heh

My intermediate solution has been to save the map as text, edit in notepad, wordpad or Excel then load it back up in Artifex and save it as a binary map. (The kit seems to like them better) This works well for me.

An improved map editor shouldn't be hard if someone digs in. (particulary one that just produces a text map that can be converted in Artifex)

How does Atrifex go nuts on you? The graphics are shot on all platforms, the window does not repaint properly, try zooming the map all the way in and out and back in with the +/- keys to get it to redraw properly.

I get the graphics issues but no error messages... (WinXP Pro).

You haven't perchance run the EAW, OP and SFC3 Artifex editors on the same system?

It self registers the location of the Definitions.txt file, your later editors may be using a Definitions.txt file from an earlier version...

Search your registry for "Definitions.txt" and point all the entries to the definitions file you want to use.

The Artifex editor for SFC3 is included in the serverkit. (Same for OP)

I think all the Artifex's register to the same key (at least EAW and OP do...), so check that the registry points to the right directory for the version you want to run at the time. They only seem to self register once, the first time an Artifex.exe is run, if it finds the registry keys it doesn't seem to update them, so double check to be sure the registry point to the definitions file that corresponds to the Artifex version you want to run.

edit: Actually I just checked and the Artifex included in SFC3 is the same as OP (v0.0.0.3), just the definitions file differs, all you need is the Defnitions file for SFC3 maps...  no wonder they use the same keys, its the same exe! Too bad it wouldn't compare its run location to its registry entries, or prompt for the location of the definitions file on startup...

I just double checked, the Artifex in the SFC3 serverkit and the Artifex in the OP serverkit have the same checksum. -> Only the Definitions.txt file differs.
