I see there was some concern about models not being credited. My view is that if you don't know who did it, then you shouldn't use it in a mod. I feel the same way about retextures and kitbashing. It takes anywhere from 2 to 30 hours to so some some models. It takes maybe 1 hour to convert to game. It seams odd that we know who converts it and the person that converts it gets thanked by people, while the modeler gets no mention.
I am doing a mod for SFC3. Any ship in it will have anyone that contributed in anyway in it. Wheather they named the ship, converted it to SFC from another game, converted to SFC3, did a lightmap..........There are models I could include but don't because I recieve no reply from the modeler. To me no reply means no.

To a point I agree with you. However, no reply, doesn't mean that its an automatic "no". How can you be certain that the person still uses the same email address?? Or is even online any longer?? Also theres usually more than one way of finding whether a person is still around. Ask on other forums, or personal IM contacts. Someones bound to know. What happens if the model your trying to use is the only one around??
My own take on it, is simply that if I can't get hold of the person then I tend to place credit fully with an "unknown" party.

i agree.. people need to do a muct better job of crediting modelers and those who work on them. period.
