Well, then you're in for a long and arduous road, my friend. The only way to add a new ship without excel is (and I still do this before editing with excel) copy a line from a similar ship and paste it in the proper place on both defaultloadout and defaultcore. Then edit from there ensuring that you keep it tab-deleniated so that SFC3 doesn't choke on it.

Your best bet, hate microsoft or not, get excel if you want anything like an easy time adding new ships.

Get http://www.openoffice.org and in its spreadsheet program (Calc) say File...Open... browse to the shiplist, in the File type drop-down select: "Text CSV (*.csv;*.txt)" - its about halfway down the list, then in the text import dialog select seperated by "Tab"...  when finished editing use File... "Save as" and save as the same type. (Backup your original shiplist first of course)

You shouldn't need Excell to add new ships. I don't have it and I just use wordpad.

Yea wordpad is good. Fastest way is copy ship of the same class then, paste it just below. The edit it after.

thanks for all your help.  i must be sh*t. i have tried all the methods described here and cant get a file that works. it kills the game.  if i copy and edit a line and maile it to someone, would they do it for me and sendme back a standerd list with that addition?

sad i know. (i love open office, but it falls over on that file for me.)

I will do 1 ship for you. Then you should be able to add others by seeing the example. I hope you have build 531 cause thats the stock shiplist I have. You don't need to send me any specs. Just tell me the name of the mod file. Its best to name the folder your ship is in the same name as the ship's mod file.  Just makes things more streamlined. The .gf  BS,TI,VL and read me need to have the same name as the mod file as well.  I only say that because this is often assumed info. Its not always correct in the ship download. Possibly because some who make models for the game, do not actually play the game.  Also everyone makes typos.

I can explain a simple way to modify the entry after the initial copy paste, to make it a unique ship.

Oops. I forgot to ask waht class ship it is. Cl? CA?   I assume its a Fed right? Sounds like one.

EDIt- well I just went ahead and added it as a Fed-Cruiser.  Hopefully you can see what I did and always change it later. I explained better in the email and sent the files along.  Hope it helps.

WELL LOL trying to translate the Liberator into the Startrek universe is hard,  into the starfleet command universe is harder. IE  ive acatly modeled her size wise in relation to the galaxy and sov......howver as big as a borg cube. (and had regenerative systems lol......british sci - fi ....way ahead of its time.)

i think dreadnaught +++++

lol im trying to work with what you sent ....thanks
