Cool! ...what's a Vudar?
Ok, everyone, open you Hymnals to the Module P6, Section R17:
The Vudar Enclave
The Vudar are a hamanoid race, taler and thinner than Terrans with oversized eyes and a pale green complection. Rather than evolving from primates, they are decended from a line of gecko-like reptiles. Their eyes have a clear inner eyelid which affords them protection while swimming. This eyelid also allows them to wet their lenses without seeming to blink. This gives offworlders the impression that they are always 'staring at you.'
Although decended from carnivors, the Vudar are generaally peaceful and acidemic. They rival the Vulcansfor their scientific achievements, and their products are a prized comodity in the Klingon Empire (of which the Vudar spent more than a century as a subjectworld, producing nearly 10% of the Empire's impules engines). The Vudar seldom, however, serve on Klingon starships due tio their need for ionizing radiation which would be hazerdousl for the remainder of the crew.
Vudar is located in the souternmost part of the Klingon Empire, right up agianst the Galactic Barrier. A weakness in this barrier (called "the Hole") allows some dangerous radiation to 'leak' into the space around Vudar. Although the atmosphere protects the planet itself (alibeit not to a level comfortable enough for a Klingon occupation force), Vudar scientests were forced to developseveral defensive technologies before they could begi serious space travel. Because of this, the Vudar are the Glaaxy's formost experts on ion and impulse technology 9or at least they think so.
Here ends the reading of The Rules of SFB.
The radiation mentioned above kept the Klingons from just occupying the area aroung Vudarand keeping thesae tricksy little lizards under wraps. Instead they were forced to (unprecidented for Klingons) allow the Vudar to build and man ships of their own design to police the area around their homeworld. The Vudar were allowed to buildships of DD size to deal with pirates and space monsters.
The radiation also had an unexpected side effect that the Vudar capitalized on- it made scanning their territory to keep an accurate count on the number of their ships impossible. Also, there were dead zones that the klingonscould not read at all, and the Vudar used these areas to build a fleet of cruiser-sized ships to head their growing 'police force.'
When the Klingons were facing ruination at the end of the General war and could not stand up to even a mild revolt, the well prepared Vudar struck. In a lightening action, they siezed several parsecs of territory from both the weakened Klingon Emipire and the Hydran Kingdom, which was yet to get all three legs back firmly on the ground. In a matter of weeks, the Vudar had occupied the entirity of thefringe area radiation zone and had begun to colonize planets outside their system.
Neither the Klingons nor the Hydrans currently possess the power to bottle them back up, and the Vudar seem poised to take a larger role in Galactic affairs.

Open please, brothers, to psalm 617.5 of federation and empire, the Vudar Enclave.
617.5 THE VUDAR ENCLAVE
This Klingon subject race broke away from the Klingon Empire during the late years of the General War and expanded into the power vaccuum of Klingon and Hydran space. This has an effect on sectors A and D.
617.51 VUDAR TERRITORY steadily expanded during this period and is defined by the schedule below:
Fall Y180, turn #25: Klingon Province 1518
Spring Y181, turn #26: Klingon Province 1817
Spring Y182, turn #28: NZ hexes 1317-1319
Spring Y183, turn #30: Klingon Province 2018
Fall Y183, turn #31: Hydran Province 1217
Spring Y184, turn #32: Hydran Province 0917
Fall Y184, turn #33: Klingon Province 1516
Spring Y185, turn #34: Hydran Province 1015
Each turn, before any other action, the Vudar take over the scheduled provinces. Any ships in that province must immediately retreat out of the province as per (503.51).
617.52 NEUTRALITY: The Vudar are treated as Neutral Territory in the same manner as the LDR (503.1). Any ship from either side which enters their territory is considered interned. Vudar take over the Klingon battle stations in their territory (and destroy the Hydran ones); none of those count for victory purposes.
617.53 VUDAR FORCES will be represented in a future product (probably F&E Civil Wars). They are not needed in this product as, due to their neutrality, they are not involved in the fighting.
The last above is somewhat disingenious, since the Hydran Kingdom attempted to prevent the Vudar incursion into their territory (but were too weak at that time to do so), and later after the end of the General War (turn 35 historically) launched a campaign to drive them from their territory.
-
Thanks for the elaboration on the Vudar territory. I have yet had the vallutia to pick up F&E and didn't have the precise area of their expansion.

Thank you for the info.! Learn sumthin' new everyday! ;D

Great Looking ship.
BUT
10K on poly? NOOOOOOOOooooooooo!!!!!!! :'( :banghead:
Sorry to say, I can't use it.
-
Yeah that is kind of on the excessive side for such a tiny looking ship, maybe something like 3-4,000 would be more appropriate, that's still high for a lot of people though.
Nice looking ship, where'd you get the design? I didn't know ADB had actually done any designs for the Vudar, did you base it on the SSDs?
-
Original design based on som SSDs I've seen ... ADB - probably not that official.
Too many polys, huh? Runs fine here ... Usually anything lower than 28fps I review for poly evaluation.
Obviously, I'm going to have to change the way I build things.
Back to the drawing board, I guess.

What's your CPU? Video card?..
and.. .. imagine seeing a simple trio of these ships in-game. ;)

Dude, just cut it down to about 3000 and they'll fly off the servers- you won't be able to get enough bandwidth!
Any plans to do the Destroyer in Module P6- if you don't have it, I'll scan and send!
-
Okay. :P
I played with the mesh for a while and I've optimized it down to 3813 polys. Any more than this and it will lose all artistic integrity.
If you want the latest optimized mesh, just re-download it. (the file size is also significantly smaller ... ::))
Or, if you'd rather use the first release, disregard the above. I don't care. :-\
Sorry for any inconvenience
J. Carney, send away! The more Vudar around here, the better!
I, Mudd.
-
Will scan and send it later tonight when I figure out where I lef it laying.

Im Liking this...

Nicely done and thanks for the great information.

You might want to be aware of this sight, it has pics of a scratch-built Vudar mini for SFB. That is actually what a Vudar CA looks like, too.

Hmm ... who knew?
I google searched the Vudar to death trying to find pics of these guys, to no avail. And now, this! Wow, what a find!
I originally started the hull a blueish tint, too - but changed it so they didn't get mistaken for Hydran colors. I also figured there would be a little more of a Klingon influence to design. All things considered, my design makes for a great prototype, eh? I'm not gonna change it ( Although I may go back to the color tint ...), But I will take these pics under advisement for my next couple of Vudar craft.
Great find here Desty! I'm sure that site will inspire more designers than me!
* Also: Kane, you made my day. Thank you.

Those are some very nicely done models. The builder is quite good with an airbrush. It's also nice to see some of the Omega races represented.
-
I,Mudd: Yeah, I'm not suggesting you change your model or anything, it's cool the way it is(although it would be pretty badass with a bluish tinge ;)), I just thought you'd be interested in that and maybe use it as reference in some future Vudar models.
I have a lot of these wierd obscure little bits of reference information(I even have a pic of a Xorkaelian ship), so if you need anything don't be afraid to ask, and I'll see if I can help you.
