i think thats how the disruptors are supposed to behave Cos they are weaker then phasers in some regard

Sounds similar to SFC1.  Disruptors in SFC1 look like they fizzle when fired near the angle limit.  Unless it effects the amount of damage done,  I wouldn't worry.
