If I may speak for the whole Alabama Nat'l Guard,
Happy Birthday to the proud old Lady, and many happy returns of the occasion!
*PS... Ferret, do we have a Connie in comission now, or was the carrier taken out in the 90's the last one so far?

That ship you speak of is no longer in commision.
As a matter of fact, I know where her Sea Valve is located today.

I knew that she was decommissioned but not when exactly.

Thanks for the support man! Now the ship you are talking of is 'Old Iron Sides' right?
I had the oppertunity to sail along side her when I was on the USS Ramage (DDG-61)
after the Navy refurbished the old gal in 97 and made her own way for her first time since WW2!
We got a twenty one gun salute along with her and the Blue Angles made a pass over her and then us afterward, it was neat. I'd love to do that again.

I Bet. I talked to an Old WW2 vet the other day, and they where In Port. Of course there wasn't enough Berths, so they Laid GangPlanks across so everyone on Leave could go to town. He was able to Cross Through the Deck of the Enterprise to get to the dock.
I had to smile a Small smile to myself, when I heard of that, and thought of My Friends here.
My Grandfather also served there For a short time. He was Being Transported to the Japanese Front, and Caught a ride with them. He was a great Mechanic, so of course the Army made him a Nurse.
