A & W
not in the can or bottle. Fountain style from an A & W restaurant, in a frosted mug.

I never heard of that one. I will have to give it a try if I ever see it.

Barqs
Although we have Sassafras tress in my yard, how does one go about making home-made? :help:
-
IBC, I love their cream soda as well.
-
IBC, definitly. Never had 1919.

A&W from a shop and not a pop distributor, the restaurants
make it homemade mmmmmmmmmm.....

Hmm, that which does not taste like medicine...oops...that's right...they all taste like medicine!
Hmmm
Barqs...tastes like a bitter medicine which makes me make all sorts of awful faces...terrible tasting...
IBC...nice bottle...tastes like medicine still...
Mug...hmmm, a little better, not QUITE as harsh as the above two...still tastes like medicine...
A&W...probably the best I've tasted...not the greatest...but at least it has something in it that reminds me of Ice cream...so it tastes like Ice Cream with medicine...not completely bad...a little wierd though.
On the topic of Root Beer, I've also tried another strange US brew known as Birch Beer. Tastes like Pepto...not bad after about the 10th time drinking it...one can almost get a taste for that one.

Then you need to try Ginger Beer Dash. Drink enough of the real stuff and you can get a little buzz.

A&W
Mug is ok,but not as good as A&W.
Barqs tates awful to me.

Stewart's makes a good Ginger Beer. Nearly burned my throat!
-
Which portion of the states is Ginger Beer sold and drank most predominantly. When I'm around there next I'll try and obtain some. I should be travelling through most of the states within the next month or so, so I'll give it a try soon!

Are Ginger Beer and Ginger Ale the same thing?

Theyre close. Ginger Beer is basically, Ginger root, water, sugar, and yeast. Fermented overnight, bottled, and stored in a cool place. Ginger Ale has other ingredients in it. Some put a bit of honey in it. You can make a "beer" out of almost anything. Roots, bark, nuts, even some fruits (fruits are more like an old fashioned soda though).

I'd say Barq's.
Ironically, though I live in Minnesota nad was raised here I am not familiar with 1919.
