OK, I admit I had started to come to Taldren forums less and less over time, one day I tried to go there, but the site wasn't responding. No biggie, I waited until another day, same thing. So I go to Taldren's site and they said that they are moving to a new server, and it would take several days. Again, I had stopped regularly going here, so I waited a few days. Came back, it had the same message (in fact, they still have the same message), so I follow the link and come here.
Now here brings up the question. What happened to Taldren Forums, will they ever come back? And pretty much any general information of what happened in the meantime would be nice.

Um, Taldren died.
There was a lot of yelling before and after this death which no one will probably mention at this point, as it started a lot of crossflaming, but long story really edited, Taldren died.
We're here now.

Just prior to said demise there was an official or semi-official statement passing the torch to here. I believe that statement also claimed that at some point the fora would move again to Taldren Korea. Who knows? Is there any reason for it to do that? I don't see a point in it moving again but others may disagree.
For what has happened since then? Most of the bigger news is recent - as in the last week or two. Grab a cuppa, sit down, browse the threads. And check in at some of the other SFC community sites.

Black 9 -- their next big game -- got cancelled, and Taldren was thus left with people and bills to pay yet no immediate way to generate revenue.
(I have no details on why Black 9 was cancelled.)

Worse, I gather the company who had commissioned Black 9 did not pay the contractual cancellation fee. So Taldren went unreimbursed for money already spent on development.

I don't suppose the people who worked at Taldren ever post here (I'm still in complete shock that a company and forum that I was used to could simply cease to exist. Kinda makes it feel so sad that, even though everybody seems to be here when at a forum, people exist so far apart that something could happen and nothing can be done about it).

I understand how you feel, which is why something was done about it.
We here @ Dynaverse.net now host the EAW / OP directory services. This allows the online Dynaverse Campaigns to continue into infinity.
We also got a dump from the Taldren Forums DB right before it went down, ported them all here.
A LOT of the previous Taldrenites are here, just waiting for some of the hub bub to die down.

ToastyO Forums has some of the last posts of Eric Bethke and some interesting info.
Also you should know about Erics broken promise about THE CODE.
But I'm not sure I'm the one to talk about this since I still have questions myself.

I wouldnt say "broken" as much as I'd say "premautre"....There other factors (quicksilver) not taken into account...IMHO..if it were up to Eirk alone...we would allready have it...
We might still get it...we might not...
