In several interviews, the producers have made no secret of their zeal to land Shatner for next season. Shatner himself is said to have come up with a Kirk storyline and approached Berman and Braga with it.
Although "Enterprise" is set more than a century before Kirk is born, the series' main plot has included a storyline revolving around time travel and a "temporal war" between enemies from different times.
Aha! That's the real reason for this temporal war crap! They've been stalking Shatner!

Time travel will most likely mess up some storyline somewhere else...
So, the Berman Mess continues - oh well.

Actually this talk is not new. It's been on startrek.com for a while. Be nice if it happens... though the last time Shatner put Trek on the screen it was Star Trek 5........ and we all know how good that was! ::)

Actually, if you could look at "Star Trek: Communicator" archives from a year or two before "Enterprise", Berman was saying that there would be no point to doing a series about the past if we all knew how it was going to turn out. The only point could be somebody trying to change things. Now, the question is whether you pin that on the Temporal Cold War or Rick Berman.... ;D
