As an actress, Fay Wray starred opposite Wallace Beery, George Raft, and Gary Cooper and others before working with a giant ape. Since 1933, all people remember is "the scream." But Wray was more than the King Kong damsel in distress. She was a writer who collaborated with Sinclair Lewis. And she acquired a good sense of humor about her most famous role. NPR's Neda Ulaby has an appreciation.

Man I remember watching that movie when I was just barely able to talk. Hate to hear this lady pass on.

All of the old school actors a dying, soon all we shall have is god damn Ben Aflack, and Jennifer Lopez, bah.
I should pop in "waterloo" with Rod Stiger and Chirspher Plummer.
