... and the missions won't load. The only thing that has changed about my computer recently is the fact that I put my tower and peripherals into plastic bags in anticipation of Hurricane Charley and then put the whole system back together when the threat had passed.

OH! It could also be a power supply problem of some kind. If too low a voltage makes it to the CPU, it'll slow right down.

I hope they were static free electronic plastic bages and not just regular ziplocs

That could do it too, though if you fried one component none of them would work so I doubt thats it.

That's very true. He'd still have to do a systemic system check, by first installing CPU, Memory, and Vid Card to see IF it comes to post. then add each component to see IF It Post, IE. Modem, Hard Drive, Sound Card, etc.

I didn't totally dismantle my computer tower, although I did remove the harddrive. Monitor, tower, printer, etc. where put into garbage bags and stashed in a closet fer while until we realised that the storm wouldn't hit us. What's wierd is the game ran great up until yesterday. Don't know how movin' the computer around would effect it.

I'm not sure what you are looking for, your ping is pretty much controlled by the lines outside your house. You could however try PC Pit Stop (http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/default.asp) and test your whole system. That site does a good job of testing your system and finding where the possible slow downs might be. Hope this helps.

Also a good place to test is dslreports.com
