NOTHING is better than nudy pics...

As MJ said , while this truck cost over $250,000, it was cheap compared to a custom pumper.
1250 pump, 1000 gal booster, 2500' of 5" hose, 400hp N14 Cummins, Allison auto and 30kw generator.

MJ, just give us the money. We know what we need in a truck. Even that truck above left off some important equipment that we needed due to lack of money.
Oh, never mind, we are still paying for the "Big Dig" and are broke.

there is always 2nd hand purcheses and then refurbish, ive seen trucks older than me still running in some towns, Brookline MA has a way old pumper, it has a curved face, it looks like a late 50's early 60's pumper*
* I have to much things on my mind, to think about funding, its the anal miser in me, i hate waste :)
*2 I could have ran the big digg better too, but thats not saying much, my cat could have ran it better.

1974 Maxim 1000 GPM pump, 1000 booster and 1500' 2 1/2" hose
We are going to refurbish this truck. The insurance underwriters insist that your first engine be lees than 20 years old or the town gets a bad fire rating.
-
We built this truck from an ex-USN tanker from Brunswick NAS. Total cost was ~$20,000.
2000 gal and 500GPM pump
We do run this dept on a shoe string and get a lot of bang for the buck.

I forgot to mention that the 1974 Maxim (Engine 2) was one of the mutual aid trucks that went to Worcester in the days following the "Worcester Cold Storage fire" when the six firefighters were killed. We did not yet have the new IH as of yet.

As far as I am concerned, all firefighers whether they be paid, call or volunteers are real firefighters.
