OK my the officers in the game used to talk whenever probes were launched and shuttles such as scatterpacks were completed. It would say "probe launched" or "scatterpack ready", now it just beeps when shuttle are complete.
Anybody know why this is or how to fix it without a fresh reload of OP?

Easy setting change...
load your game...
go to "Hot keys"
go to "options
set crew voices top left...
Side note while your on that screen..
I also set the ambient lighting way down....looks for like TMP era to me...watching weapons actually light up ships is pretty cool...

Age..IIRC...Pesty's OP pack came with the SFC INI tweaking Application....
You can set lighting ,volly info ,AI difficulty.....and......er.....DUH.....*drool*......I forgot what else...
I'll edit this when I'm am on my primary PC...
Nevermind...I walked my lazy butt upstairs and looked...
It also lets you hide your race and BPV choices on GSA set up screen.... it also lets you set your game screen resolution...
Anyways....
Make sure your filming is set to on(filmroom)
Run a big AI skirmish with lots of your favorite ships....
After its over...go back to the film room...
You will see your last recorded movie(s)...
Choose one and hit play movie....(note you must at least start one skirmish mission before trying to view a movie so the game will load ship models)
when it loads nit F9 to mide all the shield graphics and ship tags....then hit "D" to shift the control panel out of the way....
Use " [ " to slow the movie or " ] " to speed it up...
Use the F2 view to change the camera angles and "T" to switch the ships you want to view...
With the ambient lighting set down a bit,,,and the above "D" and "F9" keys hit ( I also like to slow the movie a bit)......
If you like to watch the game films....this is almost cinimatic quality...especially with well lit models with higher polycounts and excellent textures...
Every weapons flash lights up the models....phasers flash against shields...drone exaust trails give off a different color glow for each speed and totally look cool when a droner fires a volly...
There quite a few graphics mods for weapons out there to tweak the "appearance" of things like the photons and disruptors....
when you get viewing films down to being confortable....DL some of the "real" battle films from the DV or GSA games between aces place them in your SFC directory file (the main one)...
Then you can see tactics played out...in a most beautiful way...

no one sends me films :(
-
This was a personal Film Sky of Mogs and he sent it to me on the old Taldren boards. This was sent via PM.
-
Actually it was a game film I had uploaded to one of my company's websites lol, for anyone to view, like I used to do in the past. You must be aging, Age, your memory is deteriorating :P

Does anyone know how to get rid of the fricking "Chat bug" without restarting the game?
-
Uh......Nope :-\
Due to the busy house an infrequent playing times I usually reboot several times during a gaming session anyways...
I use BRB so much I should have a hot key for it... :P

No, but I have discovered it occurs usually when holding down the hotkey to talk on voice chat and right clicking around the map at the same time. Careful co-ordination can just about completely prevent it.

I would like to know how do you get rid of the Lyran Buzz sound after it shuts it self down and still keeps Buzzing away?Specify the exact file and what to set it at as I see a text file with sound on it.Thanks
-
You and me both!!!! God i hate that fricken bug!!! Its been there for ever. >:( >:( >:( >:(
I wont even play Lyran because of it.

There are a couple of things to do about it. My easy fix is to make a backup copy of the sfcsounds.zip file (in Assets/Sound), take off the read only attribute on the original then go into the zip file and remove the esgloo* files.
-
Will it still make the ESG sound or will it be mute after that?
PS thanks for the reply. :) :) :)
-
You will still have the ESG start and end sounds so that will not change, but you won't have the looping sound which sometimes doesn't stop looping.
Look at the file names and you will see there are several of each.
-
Cleaven will you have to unzip this file or just open it.I knew Jimmi knew how do to this but he is no where to be found.
-
You need a program such as WinZip to view (and delete some of) the contents of the zip file.
I'm sure there are other programs out there that will do the job, but I have used WinZip ever since it came out.
Make sure you take the Read Only atribute off the file first.

Doe this mean you delete them or in the note pad in Assets/Sounds setting it to 0?
