Post by: KBF-Nail on September 05, 2004, 09:02:06 pm
For some reason when i shutoff my computer it keeps restarting. Only way i can stop this is by turning power off. Any other idead of why it might be doing this?

I take it that this has only just started to happen? No changes made. Win XP and you are shutting down by pressing the power off button, or via the start button?

Possibly it's a feature. Install Seti@Home.

double check the settings in your BIOS, it may be set to wake on something or other, or as I just noticed with the one I built have a setting that allows it to power back up as default when a crash occurs. Or could be a stuck power or reset switch.

It might be a combination of a virus and your modem set to wake the machine from standby.

Yeah i was thinking that too Max.... There is an option somewhere (either in your bios or in your modem settings), which basically boots up your computer when there is activity in your ethernet card.
