Title: Do you guys Remember...
Post by: Sirgod on October 02, 2004, 01:32:02 pm
Those Old book and Record sets from the early mid 70's?

I got to thinking about this, while trying to find some info on the New Man-Thing movie that's coming out, and Happened to remember having one of those Book Record things.

I can Recall one where Kirk and Crew met up with Merlin, and Spock solves the Mystery of Atlantis, Six Million Dollar man, goes back in time to meet and save himself from a Rocket Sled Crash.

Did anyone else have these growing up?

Stephen

I used to have the old Disney book and record sets, like Bambi, and others. Strange you mention that, just yesterday I was thinking how good it was to smell a new record, and look at the cover artwork. One of my favorites was ELOs album covers like "Out of the Blue" and "Discovery."

I had Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

I also had a Star Trek one in which Kirk and Spock have to transport an ambassador's "cat," whose howls could incapacitate the crew!

Mommy, what's a record?

It's what came before the beloved 8 track tape, silly.

Mommy, what's a record?

That was when i realized that I was dating too young for me... when the girl I was seeing had never seen a record.

I was young... but I had a couple of Muppets book & Record sets. 33 1/3 RPM. I still have them, not to mention about 30 45 RPM singles that I got from cousins as Country went out and Rock came in.

Oh my! 8-tracks! Thank the Lord above cassette tapes came along as I DESPISED when a song on an 8=track cut off while you waited for it to change reels. Cassettes became king after MTV came out in 82, then when the CD became affordable along with CD players that was all she wrote for cassettes. We MUST be getting old if we can remember all this crap, hehehehehehe.
