Title: How do you add mods to your game?
Post by: montygomer on October 02, 2004, 01:45:41 pm
Okay, I've been trying to open up these mod files so I can add them to my game using ShipEdit. According to the instructions, I have to open the mod file using the geometry interface. When I point to the file, nothing happens. It doesn't load anthing about this model into the edit program and I can't update the shiplist.txt.

Anybody with any help on this issue, please email me: ncc1701_zulu@earthlink.net. I really want to add the TOS  Constitution class ship to my playable lineup!!

Thanks,
Monty

I'm using ShipEdit 3.0 with the OP beta. I'm trying to add ships to SFCII.

first you open the shiplist.txt file located in AssetsSpecs
then you find the ship you wish to change the mod file to and then you go to the browse key and select the new model that you wish to use and save but before you do be sure that you make first a backup and second remove the wright protection from the shiplist file,

i mean remove the read only check box and that should do it

Okay, so I just don't add the mod file to make another ship. I have to use an existing ship and add the new characteristics. Is that the gist?

not relay you could add you're own class of a ship by typing the name that you want in the class designation scroller then go to another class or rase to create this one but don't create duplicates its going to be messy if you do, or you could allways go to excel and add it from there
