What do I do to get connected to Dynaverse 2 when I seem to be stuck behind what is probably a hardware firewall to which I have no access whatsoever?
I searched the forums, but the information I found appeared to all be geared toward those who want to run servers, not those who merely want to play. I just want to get back to some multiplayer campaign mayhem now that I've replaced my stolen copy of SFC OP.

I assume you're using OP? Have you tried this (http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163347781.msg1122462320.html#msg1122462320)? (The directory servers have changed) Also, make sure you are running the latest patch (http://www.dynaverse.net/v2/downloads.php?game=SFC2%20OP) first (2.5.5.2)

Patched to latest ver, and modded to beat the band with the OP Enhancement Pack v2.0. I'll try the mini updater, Maybe that's the real problem. I hope so. I want to start some Multiplayer Mirak Missile Mayhem.
EDIT: No dice. Error is, "A firewall has been detected or you are not online. You cannot log in"

Running any software firewalls? (including windows XP's)?
-
No. I don't have any firewalls of my own. (Windows XP firewall? Are you nuts?) What I do have, is that where I live, an extended stay motel(until I save enough to afford the initial cost of an apartment), they provide free broadband internet, probably splitting out a T1 among the rooms. But they have a hardware firewall. I have no access to this firewalll. Is there any way for me to get into dynaverse 2 that does not require me to reconfigure a firewall to which I havo no access? If not, I'll live, if so, please tell.

Nope, you're out of luck in that case. :(

Figures. I'll just havo to satisfy myself with blowing up AI ships on my own for now. Thanks anyhow.

Always could use dial-up . . .
-
Not if I want to go up against real players or do co-op missions. I tried when I used to have dial-up. The connection between me and the other guy always dropped leaving the two of us to go in single player mode with the other ship under AI control, IF it didn't crash us out to desktop.

There was a way once, that I tried which needed the assistance and set-up of an external server using OpenVPN. It does work, but the extra latency made it less reliable than using a modem.
bewarned.

I'll just wait for now, Firesoul. But thanks for the tip. BTW, goot to see you again. Last time I did, we were in Dynaverse 2 yacking in the chat some when I played from an internet cafe in Yakima, Washington.
