I had just purchased a CHA and SUI (HMS Flying Circus IV and HMS Hell's Grannies) when I went into a scan mission; shakedown cruise. Well, after I set the Flying Circus to full speed (toward the planet), I noticed my MP3 player's battery was getting low, so I reached around to get the AC adapter for it. By the time I was done positioning the cord around the keyboard so it wouldn't be in the way, I looked up to the screen to see nothing but black and a range indicator of .42 K. Needless to say a split second later the Flying Circus was a very large crater and the camera switched to the Hell's Grannies.
My conondrum? Is it still cheating to alt-f4 in this circumstance?

Well in my view it just goes to show that you're not really a Hydran, else your 3rd eye and tentacle would have been able to continue to control your ships while doing this other action

The sensible thing to have done was to have stopped your ships before messing with the power cord.
As for the question, bit odd really - are you staying on the mission end screen waiting for someone to say yay or nay? I'd say it's your decision.
-
Naah, I've already done it, I was just wondering what anyone thought about it.
I'll definately set the bloody thing to orbit target next time lol

Hey, if you are on a server, no one else is involved, and it's an honest mistake, I wouldn't roast your @$$ for it.
EDIT: Remember, we are here to have fun. Something I lose sight of from time to time.
-
If there was someone in mission with me, I've taken the ship loss and my name posted through out the boards, but since no one seen it, no use getting my name in the dirt. It's happened to the best of us, right?
-
It has probably happened to a lot of people. There is never any harm done when it is an honest mistake.
Now, were you to <alt>f4 because the lame AI beat your silly @$$, that would be different (and entertaining).

What he said... yes... LOL!!
Technically, if your in mission (especially with an enemy human player) the only time alt-F4 is accepted is because of a mission/game bug and usually all players concerned will agree to it (although, this isnt always the case, but you shouldnt be penalised by a mission/game bug). So, if you feel its justified to alt-F4, then do so, although for the right reasons of course.
Hmmm... I thought only J'inn and Tantalus crashed into big large unmoving objects....

Tracy, I'm on your side for this discussion. But ya may want to consider hiring an editor to proof read your material.
