Didnt read past the 1st post, so my apologies in advance to those whose thoughts differ. I would like the day to focus on friends and family. Having a real-time game competing with family time hurts. If I focus on one, the other loses. Either way, I lose. I dont see how a small break would be anything but good.

I figured the arguement was that because of a singular event that was likely to hit most players simultaneously, impinging on their playing capability, that they might take it down in "fairness" to those who can't get on because of those other obligations. Not sure how much I agree with the idea, but I'm certainly not adamantly opposed to it.

That's kind of like saying take it down through the nights (north american) for balance. Those in other time zones or on shift work sure wouldn't like a server that wasn't 24 hours a day. This is just the same with a twist. As for most players affected? Maybe half, for a few hours.

Yeah, I didn't say I agreed with it, just not going to flip out if they do take it down. I am usually not for taking a server down though, but I've been away a while so I'll certainly go along with whatever happens. :D Family is more important here anyway, so there really isn't any choice as to what to give priority to on a personal level. Besides, who's to say if any side will benefit if the server does stay up? Maybe both sides will be equal even on that day, maybe they won't. No real way to tell, imo, just like any other day.

I live in the UK and the time the server would be down for would mean no play that day at all. 10.00am = 3.00pm GMT , 10.00pm = 3.00am GMT. If you want to take it down in the interests of fairness it should be down for 24 hours not 12 imho. So it is fair for the non-Americans who play as well.

Stangely enough, I worked in a lab with a Quebecois fellow, clean shaven top to bottom (used that Neet stuff?). The women in the lab got wind of his night job and demanded to get a better look. Being the modest francophone he is ;), he of course obliged. Quite a remarkable fellow really, held three jobs, very intelligent and a world traveller. He was great to work with, I loved to torture him about his "Beautiful Country", couldn't bear being Canadian, he was in complete denial.
So with complete innocence I can say yes, at least one of the Montreal/Gatineau male strippers is a smoothie.

ANZAC Day is no different then Armistice Day (which was originated by the Brits and French) and also observed by the US. However, the US expanded Armistice Day into Veteran's Day back in '54 in order to include our WWII, Korean War, and all other conflicts. Didn't seem right to overlook the 16 million US Vets of WWII.
Nov 11 is still a Federal Holiday and I had the happy opportunity to attend a very nice recognition and celebration of our Vets today.
So anyway ... we gonna play GW4 on the 25th?
