Title: Major problem: OP will not load

I should be able to figure this out myself, and here it is.

I launch OP and the loading screen comes up, then blacks out and returns to desktop. NOTE: this is while online. Also ctrl-alt-del OP and will come up not responding

when i am offline OP will launch and load normally. The firewall is not a non issue. i have that configured through the firewall.

I have very recently reloaded Winxp Pro w/ SP2, on my laptop. OP is patched and GW4 is loaded.

I will reinstall OP and see if that is the problem.

Any other suggestions...

Does OP have an entry on your taskbar?

My OP does the same thing - Sort of...

Starts loading, cuts to a resized desktop, at which point I have to click on desktop (switching it to Orig Desktop), then click on the Starfleet Command button in my taskbar.  Doing that will start the game, but most of the main menu is off the upper-left hand corner of my screen...  Luckily most of the "multiplayer" button is around so I can get on D2...

Note: system is a Win2K box, 1gHz proc., 128 RAM, GeForce2 based Video card - 64MB PCI

Try setting the desktop to 16 bit and the same resolution you set the game to run at with EzINI?

Are you running windowed?  If you are, and you are running 32 bit color, the game will not work right.  Check your display properties and set it for 16 bit color, and see if that fixes your problem.  Might as well try it even if you are not windowed.

IIRC, that has always been a problem with video settings.  Don't know why it would only affect online play - but it does.

you guys had it all wrong. all i needed to do was defrag my hdd.

that is all... ;D

BTW, i did get on the server just fine... ;D

Age, I do have a microphone on my laptop, built in model.

the real reason that i dont respond is that my parents are asleep and i do want to wake them.

otherwise my microphone works just fine  ;D
