excerpt
BIRCHWOOD, Wis. ? A dispute among deer hunters over a tree stand in northwestern Wisconsin erupted Sunday in a series of shootings that left five people dead and three others injured, officials said.
Jake Hodgkinson, a deputy at the county jail, identified the suspect as Chai Vang but would give no additional details.
Several news organizations in Minneapolis-St. Paul reported the suspect was 36 years old and from St. Paul.
The incident happened when two hunters were returning to their rural cabin on private land in Sawyer County and saw the suspect in one of their tree stands, County Chief Deputy Tim Zeigle said. A confrontation and shooting followed.
It's not known who shot first, Zeigle said.....

Hawkeye...
it was an SKS, not an AK. There's a difference. And an SKS is DIRT CHEAP... like $100 to $125 or so. IT's the rifle of choice for poor idiots that don't know it's a piece of crap and who don't know beans about guns in general.
As to what kind of fool he is, did you read anything else about this guy? Even Paul Harvey managed to find out that he had the cops called on him for domestic violence two or three in the last little while.
Basically, he was someone that didn't give a rip about people in the first place.
He's not your average hunter.

In another thread..it was mentioned that the Hmong are having a problem here in the states with property rights..they are used to hunting where ever they want...tho' after reading several articles, after walking away a number of yards, it seems he lost it...I don't know, and it's hard to judge from the media pickings..

Oh yes Don, this is quite real. happened only a couple hours from where I live. What really bothers me is the fact that people are already starting their bigoted bitching about the hmong.
Oh the hmong and their sexy women...

thanks for the clarification j. carney. ya know i read sks and thought ak47. my duh. you are also right that this guy is not your average hunter. i like to deer and elk hunt with my dad's 8mm mauser (kinda creepy gun with the nazi swastika still on it but a right-on hunting riflle) i have a lot of sympathy for the other hunters as no one expects this kind of behaviour when out with other people equally armed.
i also don't buy the "i was lost" story...it sounds just like that, a story...

Hey, those Krauts make good steel, man. ;D I'd love to get my hands on an old K98, those are STILL some of the best shooting bolt-actions in the world! I'll have to stick to looking for a Mosin Nagant, however, as they are almost as accurate and only about 1/4 the price. :(
My big question is how in the heck the SOB managed to clip 6 guys WHEN EVERYBODY HE SHOT AT HAD GUNS TOO!!!
If it had been the guys I hunt with ol' Hmong would have been found with about 30 rounds through him.
I mean, didn't they realize that they could have fought back?
-
The only thing I could think of is that they had already unloaded their weapons for whatever reason. Especially since I heard a report that he shot at least one in the back and someone from about 100 yards away.

From another such item on the same incident in another of the forums, I think it said that they people were not hunting, but were asking the man to get off their property, and between them they only had one gun.
