Title: Ion Storms?

So I'm on the SQL server, take a mission (against AI -Kroma's atill not showing up after I sign on) and find myself in this "Ion Storm"
Kinda nat, bunch of my phasers (dont think it effected and heavies) flashed yellow everytime I was in it.
Is there any reason we don't have these on normal servers? Is it a map or scripting thing?
Any oither terain features we're not using?

Looking a my films, I *believe* it was Met_21Distress Call.

Just thought it would be cool for PVP if systems went down and up on a (random?) basis.

It's a scripting thing.  You can specify ion storms in the mission if you so wanted. You can even create them randomly. You'll see them pop up in EEK patrol missions from time to time in orbit around a moon or planet that was randomly generated.
