Title: How do you change a ships colour?

Sorry if I've missed the obvious, but is there any tutorial around (or a kind souls who will jot down a quick note)
I don't want to change any ship models, but I'd like to play around with making afew existing models "darker"
in colour.
I've also never modded anything so I need the Dummies Guide if it's available.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Go Into the model folder assets\models..

find the ship you want to play around with... in the ships folder you will see the bmp texture files.... open up in your paint software and modify as you see fit, save the bmp once you have finished over writing the original and hey presto

I would download Irfanview, a free program that allows you to alter colors of texture files. I don't have a website name, but if you check it out on Google and then mess with it a bit, you will find it very useful,

Darken the back ground and leave the rest alone.
