Hey guys, I'm possibly wanting to make up some new mission scripts for my next mod and/or edit some existing scripts. I've got absolutely no experience with C++, however I can pick up ANYTHING quickly if I have a user friendly program and a little guidance. Here's my question, where can I get a good program for making scripts (Preferably free) and can someone help get me started?

IIRC you need MS Visual C++ 6.0 its the only one that will work.
If you downloaded the API which you will also need there is a readme in there with the requirments & how to get setup.
You cant edit existing scripts unless you can acquire the source from the person who wrote them.

There are plenty of source code examples out there, Victory.
I do not remember the links but look for examples by Cam78, Nuclear Wessels, and the Coop Ace missions by MagnumMan and Firesoul. [/b]

Miscrosoft Visual C++ v6.0 SP5 is the compiler you need to create scripts. It cannot be downloaded, unfortunately. Also, this version has been replaced by a later version of Visual Studio, and the later version is not (as far as I know) compatible with the SFC API.
There are still some copies floating around on eBay, or perhaps if you know someone who can lend you a copy, but basically it isnt free and is no longer being produced. All the Taldren scripts have source code which is readily available and used to be downloadable from Taldren, I'm not sure if anyine else is currently hosting it.

ok, I like the game, but I'm not so obsessed with it to spend massive amounts of money on it.

Gotta love the later version of Visual Studio though...it like to expose some of the source code when it tries, but fails to compile a valid script.
*bonk* *bonk*
No no, I swear I didn't tell them, Master...
