Since they have the only one, I wonder if their stock will jump up a couple of bucks? ;D Only tomorrow will tell...
I especially like it will costs an avg 10% more than the current batteries on market!

It does not seem to mention if they are rechargable. I stick to rechargables myself now.
How do you think companies will react if these batteries take over? By making more power hungry devices where battery life is no better is my guess.
My big beef with battery operated gadgetry: Non standardized batteries. More and more devices take custom batteries so that they can continue to force you to replace the unit when the build in rechargable battery dies once and for all. Laptop computers, PDAs etc. If current standards can't handle the newer equipment the industry involved should work with the battery company to design a newer more capable standard.
I have a PDA (Palm M105) - uses 2 AAA and runs about a month. I bought rechargeable NiMH and a 1 hour charger so it is never uncharged when needed. I'd like a newer one but all the newer models seem to use custom batteries and many seem to be factory installable only - so I stick with the obsolete model that I can rely on and can replace at my option not just because the battery died. Its one thing that keeps me from a laptop. When the battery dies you either end up buying a custom battery that costs as much as your laptop is currently worth or you are forced into buying a whole new laptop.

me too. My MP3 player uses 4 AA's, and was designed to work with NiMH rechargeables. In fact, the built-in charger didn't even work! I'll be using that player until the disk can no longer spin.

Safety Tip: Don't use knock-off Li-Ion batteries.
Seriously...
I've seen footage of a battery with a faulty overcharge circuit. Think blowtorch...
Such failures are rare, but just wait for the headlines when some passenger's cellphone battery flames out on a airplane.

I've been waiting for a huge leap in battery technology for some time now.... (such as in Heinlein's 'Friday')
Now, if we could just somehow convince electrons that they want to exist in a vacuum, THAT would make a killer battery!!!
:D
